“I complained because of the noise...”
“Sorry what? I couldn’t hear what you said over the sound of YOUR LAWN MOWER!”
Remember, people don’t have anything better to do at this time when they aren’t working. Sadly, most people don’t have a hobby besides sitting on their ass all day and start trouble.
Really believe that myself... couldn't believe that some have zero hobbies... till I met my current missus... Workaholic no less... And yes... she loves to stir the pot... dear God.. I personally could not live without my Quaddies, Planes, both Jets and prop... my cars... even my crappy submarines lol... BMX, my real cars.... OMG.... really!!! we all need our hobbies!!!
You just perfectly describe the weirdos of the democrats and their Hollywood freaks friends 😁
They are called busy bodies
yep there always someone who thinks they know everything oh you shouldnt be doing that... also there will be idiots who go flying regardless if they seen the videos or not. there are idiots who cant even understand the rules od lockdowm. can u believe they think there aallowed to go out with friends in there street! seriously people in the uk have been cought going to partys amd there response is we are allowed were self isolating on our street
@@laseonestar meanwhile back in reality. It's usually old people that are the ones making all of the phone calls to complain about other people and they vote for Repukes.
They are just jealous that you are still having some fun during the stay at home imprisonment lock down. Busy bodies with nothing to do should get a drone too! Live a little.
"This video is specially for my New Zeland viewers - both of you"
Epic opening :D
Seriously!? People need to just relax.
I think that’s the problem. People are over-relaxed during this time and have nothing better to do besides complain and start trouble.
Ya think
@@Twizztify covid19 or not been a problem for yonks.... i don't have a hobby so ill ruin yours
that's not very cashmoney of them
@@tenns im sure you're the one calling up CAA
"That's not fair, why are they having fun and I'm not?"
A very mature and sensible response. Some YTers would go off on a big rant for clicks, but you've provided really useful advice. Respect, Bruce!
He's left the ranting to his viewers.
I have a saying."It don't matter what you are doing, someone don't want you doing it"
I have a saying: "if you live in a trailer park it's ok not to know the difference between "don't" and "doesn't""
Bruce - I confess it was me that complained. I was jealous that you were outside happily flying your noisy little drone while I'm stuck inside here in northeast Thailand with a painful bout of the Shingles. 😕😭 Of course, it didn't seem to matter how loud I whined/whinged I don't think any constabulary in NZ heard my bitching from 16°N latitude. 😁
Actually, can't believe anyone would report you, especially since you were flying such a small innocuous little aircraft. Yep, there are definitely some freakin' miserable jacka$$es out there!
Stay well and keep 'em coming young fella! 😁👍👍
Do you fly over there Jimbo?
@@georgschwiemann2353 Yessir buddy, mostly drones for the last few years, but had a couple of RC fixed wings as well.😁 My latest toy is the Mavic Mini. Sadly, with the current pandemic restrictions, it's staying in its case.😭 Stay well!👍
Thanks for the PSA.
PS... Your intro caught my funny bone - with your sad demeanor and sad little flight path followed by a complaint by the CAA... it was priceless. Thanks as always!
Keep your passion alive Sir Bruce hope all is well with you and your family Take Care
The complainer already disliked the video.
Lol😁
Neither of you have uploaded RUclips movies
Drunken FPV and you are spamming!!!
Tell the CAA to get on with doing their actual job - tell the snitch to get bent.
They are, this is thier job they are required to investigate EVERY complaint
Thanks Bruce. Keep the videos coming. Always my first watch. Greetings from Montana, USA.
Well put Bruce. Logical, Respectful, articulate point of view. You words and level head are what we need more.
I think this is official "over reach". Its like stopping a person from driving (sensibly) because the next person might chose to drive dangerously. Each and every person is individually responsible for their actions. When we as society begin to punish the law abiding, for the actions of criminals, then the Nazi's have won. You have always advocated "common sense" and "safety first". Keep the videos coming.
Those interested in official "over reach" ruclips.net/video/dRfvleZ8tis/видео.html Start at 4:50.
you do not have to think...... it is over reach, one thing in the USA they cannot enforce the shut down.
Thank god to the founding fathers
@@ctsteve1967 but the same time they shouldn't have to enforce it either. The whole reason many laws and regulations govern actions beyond what you may call "overreach" is because many citizens do not do what they should.
Good speech, but you might want to replace muh nazi's with commies.
@@nocare And many officials do not know what they are allowed to do and go beyond their remit and get away with it because many citizens do not what they are allowed to do.
@@ctsteve1967 well, at least not for long periods of time.😁🧙♂️
Anyone that's sooo cowardly to report a guy that's minding his business needs to burn in hell..
Hello from Maryland, USA and thanks for the entertaining videos! Your friends seem like great fun glad you have them to help us get through this health crisis. Good luck stay healthy keep your camera on ✌️
Well done video, Bruce. Best wishes and stay healthy (you are looking strong) from the USA.
Well said Bruce. Thanks for your info. Light at the end of the tunnel I pray for. Keep doing what you're doing! ✌️
I had to give up flying my drones "under 10m altitude, well below tree top level, on my own property" here in the states, when the FAA started interpreting any school yard as a "flying field" (because someday, someone may need to land a med-evac helicopter there - even though that's never, ever happened to 90% of them) that I couldn't fly within 5 miles of... With my mobility related physical disability, that kicked me out of the hobby for good...
Oof. I have no words to describe how much that sucks. Surely, they could be a little more accommodating for you than that?
Bro F*#k the faa its your freedom your life keep flying bro , wen thay come fly your drone away land it so thay don't see and just tell them your watching videos with your goggles out in the field and wen thay look at you just say WHAT ?
Don't give into them bro 👊
There will always be traitors amongst the people.
No one is required to be a role model for others and it is unreasonable to ask them to act as such. The amount of children above 18 is astounding, it's like they don't have any responsibility themselves or can't think on their own. Personally I would tell anyone who complains to go to hell, including the authorities. At this point I feel like the restrictions are more harmful than the virus. If they had such restrictions in my country (basically house arrest) I would not be following them. I need to go fishing, I need to get away from people, I need to go miles into the wilderness,.....I don't need a police state arresting me when I go out my front door.
And its uneducated people, such as yourself, that has increased the spread of this virus. Wake up before its too late. FYI the USA will see 5000 deaths per day within the next two weeks..........but at least they have their freedom right. Grow up.
Sorry about this Bruce, I just had to tell it like it is, as you always have.
I Need I Need I Need.... Its not all about what you need you selfish twat. This whole thing is bigger than you and what makes you happy, I live in NZ, Its not House arrest and people aren't being arrested for leaving their houses as we are allowed to out for exercise and to shop for food. We have had only one death so far and its because most people doing their part to stop the virus spreading.
Great message delivered with humor only you can come up with! Keep up the great content!
Can't really argue with the local authority here Bruce, for one reason only, people emulate you, they look to you for example. Not that you can't do it safely, it's that others without your experience. As for your local authority, it was very respectful of them to just call you, rather than get all silly about it.Bruce, in these times, you are a leader, yes , you. Fly Whoops around your space, have some fun, and wait. Your cutting room floor videos are inspiring !! Spread the message, not the virus !!
You could make that argument about a lot of hobbies though. Anything that can be done will probably have some people doing it badly. I don't think anyone should be limited to 100% safe hobbies just because some other idiot might be inspired to do something stupid.
"This Video is directed to my New Zealand viewers- both of them!"
Who has time to bother a hobbyist?
Always a person wanting to call the government
Take it you've never flown in England?
People come up to you and want to call the police, fight you, abuse you...even though you're flying legally.
THANK YOU to the "Gatwick Attack"
@@chrissofpv3017 yeah I fly in the UK and it's fucking stupid my neighbors are currently biching about me flying s mobula 7! In my guardan. Despite them burning what seems to be half of the Amazon rainforest just over the wall
Did the CAA pay you to produce their Public Service Announcement, if not they should have.
No, I just want to make sure that people don't endanger the reputation of the hobby out of ignorance of the present situation.
@@xjet Like this guy? ruclips.net/video/GMzVvosj2E4/видео.html Clearly flying over someone.
@@xjet good call. I'm taking the time to do a little maintenance on my tyro79 while things are at level 4. It shipped with a faulty vtx, so I need to install a new one.
Thanks Bruce, that was a good distraction and informative and straight to the point. Nice views of the sunrise and good ideas with the mini drone for keeping your hand in and having a bot of fun.
Lol, some hefty lady was filming my car as I drove off from flying my drone down town. Lonely. She should order her some toys from Amazon, she'd probably need the really big toys though, her husband wouldn't mind, I did that flying after disc golfing. If I'm gonna die, I'll die playing.
Yes!!!
I agree as well my friend. I fly my inductrix and my mini quad bomber in the house and driveway as well. Even nipped down to a local empty lot and put in a flight with my kfm4 wing. Dead end road, large empty lot with 3 police officers in the driveway next door having a coffee and a break from the turmoil.
I have a mavic air. Today I decided to take a short flight. I went straight up to 400 feet agl, did a 360 look around and came straight back down. Sorry if that offends anyone. If so get yourself a hobby. Knitting perhaps...
Or Shooting
or pounding sand
It wasn't me! I must be one of your 2 NZ views... LOL :p
Well done Bruce excellent content could not agree more, we each as a paying member of society need to play our part
Your videos are always good for a laugh Bruce, keep it up.
There will always be haters. Always.
yoyoyoyo, dem be haterz homes.
They're called 'Spoil Sports'
The gestapo arrested a dad and his 12 year old daughter for playing catch in an empty park. Another woman was arrested for improper social distance! I never heard of that law. She was put in a holding cell with 24 other people! Perhaps the police should be arresting themselves.
I'm with you all the way Bruce. I've been flying RC on/off 45 years. I use my smaller drones to fly around my property in the Suburbs of Ohio. I'm also an AMA member and belong to an RC club. In fact, I like the smaller drones for the very reason of not drawing attention to myself. My DJI Spark goes with me whenever I have a chance to take some scenic video. Far away from crowds/people..
CAA give Bruce $10,000 for this video production please. CAA you are responsible to the community and I ask you to reward Bruce and have him working from home.
The first rule. Can you fly safely? If not, don’t.
Good advice. Yesterday strong winds blew my drone away, apparently it does happen.
Your neighbour would have a heart attack here in the US. Here, you don’t own the airspace above your property. Only rule is to not fly over people that are not participating in the flight (such as visual observers). I still try to stay high above in order to not be a nuisance. For example, yesterday I took video of a construction area on the other side of the neighborhood. I flew my Magic 2 Pro up to 100 meters straight up and made the whole flight at that height. I descended to where I took video. Then went back too 100 meters and flew line of sight home. Then came straight down.
I grabbed a tinywhoop just before we got locked down so I'd have something to do. Bugger flying it indoors, I've spent the last two weeks trying to unlearn 3 years of muscle memory from DJI camera ships where you just bang the sticks all the way over to get the drone where you need it before the action happens. My living room ceiling will never be the same again and I can't remember the last time I saw the cat.
Bruce I was inspired to look on Banggood (via your link) at the zohd dart 250 you mentioned in the video about sub 250g being loads of fun, what do you need to buy with them ? I've got the controller that came with the whoop (which I'm going to upgrade) and some fatsharks, what else would I need to add to the cart ? The tinywhoop is also here due to that video so well done, you've inspired me to learn to fly something that really does need to be flown :)
I think it's that the majority of people are trying to do the right thing, while a few still seem to be able to have some fun. This causes animosity among some.
Good post, glad you did it, the CAA should hire you as a consultant. No kidding!
Thanks for this message, it is educational for those that are not aware and good information for those who do not understand.
What amuses me is one person can complain about you flying and bureaucrats jump to attention and come at you. Try phoning the dog ranger about barking dogs in New Plymouth and you may as well talk to a wall. Thanks for the info.
LOL, so true. I've got a 'neighbour' (3 doors down) who has decided to chainsaw a delivered tree all morning and afternoon for firewood for 3 days now. I doubt the Napier council noise control would be bothered either. Some people really push this 'stay at home' concept.
These are really awkward times. So many things are completely off. Don't remember when you were agreeing to CAA last time ;)
Good video, thanks for being a respectable RC role model! Greets, Mario
You're right there Bruce, it's not what WE do, it's what the copycats will then do to the extreme.
@xjet, you could cut out xps foam and glue foam bumpers to the duct and then they might float! I was thinking of making my 250mm buoyant but the carbon frame and limited places to glue foam on makes it quite hard, but then I saw your micro quads with the ducts!
Happy Easter !....Fly safe :-)
The term drone, more widely used by the public, was coined in reference to the early remotely-flown (target aircraft) used for practice (firing of a battleship's guns), and the term was first used with the 1920s Fairey Queen and 1930's de Havilland Queen Bee (target aircraft).
Stop the use of this word when defining a toy.
I started building my own back in the days when you had to do it yourself or do without. Back then it always made me think of the full scale Predator drones, like wooo here's me flying a tiny foamie attack drone with a little bitty camera on it, everybody run for cover. All these years later, it still cracks me up how the irony of that now rigidly fixed and indelible name for tiny FPV toys and simultaneously huge, deadly military recon / strike aircraft is completely lost on the public. What doesn't and never did crack me up is how the public in general attaches the same level of risk-to-life-and-freedom to both. Or, to summarize; humans are dumb as a box of rocks.
So to clarify...Bruce says "do as I say now after being bollocked by the CAA, don't do as I did a couple of weeks ago".🤣
Keep up the great work Bruce, love the videos. Don't let the fun police put a damper on things.
I think there is not much risk from someone catching the virus from a drone as it is flown in sunlight and UV kills viruses. More chance to catch covid19 while shopping for groceries.
Thank You, Bruce! They were just bloody jealous because you were flying and they weren’t, LOL! Please stay safe and take care!
Did you ever post your 250ish light camera build drone vid? You mentioned posting one at some piont I think. Did I miss it? I live in Canada so I was looking forward to it.😅

Damn, I was hoping it would be someone who watched your best of vids not realizing that they were archive footage.
Thanks..ive had one of those CAA calls, unfortunatley one neighbour around here is a compulsive complainer...it use to be regular complaints to council about the odd time my small dog barked when someone knocked on door.....it seems my drone is getting the attention now. Some people just have no tolerance.
The Gestapo was actually a very small organization compared to the local populations they monitored. So was the East German Stasi. They were both heavily dependent on public informants... like one of your neighbors.
Bruce are you the number 1 nz viewer cause you watch it after edit? That makes me viewer number 2
And here in the USA, a New York RUclipsr put a loudspeaker on his Mavic Entetprise ordering everyone at a park to practice social distancing and stay away from each other. All while complaining how no one is paying attention to the stay at home order, as he is outside himself. 🤷♂️
It's ok as long as the drone stays minimum of 6 feet from any other people or drones and wears a mask.
Its the Camera that scares them not the drone.Someone in Collie told me they got a fine for no swimming pool fence when the council used a drone over there property.
Someone complain because they are jealous and bored. Just ignore them mate and happy flying.
same as you Bruce just flying my E57 around the living room. There not a cob- web in site it great house work and fun at the same time.
Ow no the other Kiwi did not do it. must have been me sleepwalking
That's why I always were a safety jacket while flying. It has the text: "DRONE PILOT happy to address your questions after the flight" printed on it. People should know who to address when they have concerns. It most likely won't stop all complaints but I didn't get any yet.

Hi. Glad all is ok.
No RC sailboat? Great place for it. And no problems.
In all honesty Bruce, I'm not overly surprised. As I commented on another one of your videos about a week ago about flying over the roads. As I said at the time what you were doing didn't strike me as unsafe, but it was definitely not within the guidelines. Noticed that you didn't mention flying over the local road in this one. Anyway it wasn't me as your flying always seems pretty safe, but I wasn't surprised to see this video. Take care and thanks for the content

Nice commentary! Keep it safe .
i fly in my local rugby grounds that i can walk too or drive, its not private property, its council owned and the club rents it and the public are encouraged to use the field when no games are being played and i was told we are all custodians of these grounds like school grounds and they welcome us on these places and to keep an eye on things, when i fly there, there are no people there at all and i dont fly over anyone's property AND FOR NO LONGER THAN 5 MINS, yet some still think this is wrong, yet 100 meters away is a cycle track with 50 or more people walking and running and all breathing heavy, so much so i cycle on the road now its safer lol
How many times " fall from the sky" well that is the question have they ever fallen from the sky. My mavic air has never done so.
What is that tiny FPV drone called? Actually might want to get one XD
Hi Bruce
Got to ask the question if you have a massive lake at the bottom of your garden.. Why don't you ever do rc boats or planes with floats.......
Brian
I have. Check this and my RCModelReviews channel. I've reviewed and flown the Skipper RC plane, the Shrimpboat hydroplane and a yacht. Problem with the lake is that most of the time it's got a lot of weed which fouls the keel of the yacht and I've got no way of recovering the hydroplane or Skipper if they get marooned in the middle.

I honestly thought people and media had forgotten all about the perceived threat of drones given the current crisis
How about those karearea TOA motors?
They are a nuisance in a built-up area such as a city. They just are. If you want to play with this toy, find an open area, away from residences, and you'll have less/no problems. Respect your neighbors' privacy, that's the main thing to be aware of.
So glad I live in the USA, and in UTAH. None of this crap. We opened our parks and golf courses this week. People are back out and about gyms are opening soon and stores have great procedures and rules to protect people and their own staff. 🤓
I seriously don't get why people want to call a toy quadcopter a drone. Drone is a military term, let us ignore their insistent force to use this word to define a toy.
Hey Bruce, is there altitude can one fly over someone's home without requiring their permission before over-flying that persons home? I only ask because I can't imagine pilots and airlines seeking this permission to fly over Granny's house every day. Or are the airlines just that special?
