I just subscribed to you channel. 1982 I began to do counted cross stitching. I played baseball and was the joke of the team as we traveled by bus from stadium to stadium. When I hit 20 I came down with Crohns Disease and it landed me in the hospital. I was a pitcher and was on total colon rest. I could not even eat chopped ice. My sister one day seen my hand and said,”you must be going crazy not pitching. So stitch I did. I’m 55 now. I have so much to share but I just wanted to say I’m glad there are men who stitch
@@MrXStitch be happy to. It’s 12:45 am here. I will write you tomorrow. My wife passed away of Cystic Fibrosis in 2015 and I got remarried 2 years ago. Moved from Tennessee to SanDiego California And I’m still unpacking 🙂 I’m working on a stitch called Tangled from Disney for May 24 year old daughter. My recent wife has actually given my one end of the house to be a “man cave” It’s originally her home. I moved to her home. Ive put stitching on hold from the move but I’m just now beginning to settle in. So yes I with contact you tomorrow. I’m looking here and I’m trying to figure out how to email you🤷🏻♂️ I’m not the most tech savvy guy 🙂
That's a neat idea to make a small uplifting cross stitch and leave it somewhere for another person. Stitching with plastic to decorate outside is another out-of-the-box solution. I've seen a few flosstubes where pieces were sewn into project bags, including a 'save the stitches' piece found at a thrift store.
I really needed to hear this today. So many of these same thoughts have been rattling around in my head and I need to make some of it happen before I get to distracted. Thank you for this post and you have gained a new follower.
Framing is so expensive if you have a lot of finished pieces. I like the 144 hobbies where she just hangs her finishes on the wall without framing them. Only problem is our house gets dusty
Another idea is to print/ trace a picture, place it over a canvas and use a needle to punch holes into the canvas around the outline of the picture. And stitch as normal. You can paint the canvas before starting to make a nice background. 😊👍🏼
I have made a campaign project to make a cross stitch for every "Golden Girl" at my workplace and these take around a month or two to complete. It fills my heart with such joy because these women understand how long it takes me to make them and they get so excited for their personalized piece. Not to mention it is a complete surprise for their birthdays! I am thinking about maybe extending my services. I LOVE cross stitching, and find I have more motivation to finish a project if it is for someone else then for myself. One more Golden girl to go! I also have a new tradition for my best friend to cross stitch her pieces that symbolize our friendship (hummingbirds and roses) and seeing her face this for her birthday was priceless! It just warms my heart that my craft makes them feel so loved and they appreciate them so much!
Thank you for sharing your ideas 💡 never thought of the methods you mentioned, will give it a shot. Afraid I don’t have any ideas because pieces I sew takes years to complete so I either hang on my wall or give it to close relatives and friends .. till your next journey with you, keep safe too 🥰👍🏻
I have glow in the dark thread that I will add to windows or a fire place or moon . You could add beads here and there. Like for French knots ,in the eyes, different colored ones on tree for Xmas.🎄 all kinds of special threads out there. Think outside the x .
Awesome!! I only just back to stitching since childhood and found your magazine - which I love! Great ideas and inspiration, I can see cross stitch being a part of life now 😀
Has anyone tried the dark room challenge? Basically you choose the colors you are going to use by picking them in a dark room or a room used to develop photos so all you can see are different shades of black. Next do your project and the color combinations turn out beautiful. Have fun, be creative and be kind.
Best part of the video is the ending..... Consider donating them to homeless shelters, senior citizens and vulnerable families/children? Sorry I had to sub
I like to embroider my clothes, especially blouses. I find that cross-stitch is better suited to clothing than some other stitches because the stitches are smaller and don't wear/shrink as much. It's annoying to spend hours on a design and then see the fabric pucker up at the first washing.

I emailed you. I hope you were able to see it
@@captaindj9790 Hi Cap! I didn't get the email - sorry!
I'm not convinced someone who isn't themselves a cross stitcher will appreciate what a vast amount of time goes into a cross stitch
I completely agree! :)
I'm going to use my next cross stitch to wrap the cover of my junk journal.
Great idea!

I put mine into quilts I make. Or, I make quilted frames for my pieces.
A great idea! 😃
I'd like to see that

His voice is so soothing 😭
I made pillow cases, backpack, keychains, stitch them on baseball caps and sort of good stuffs 😁
Love that!

This was fun 👏🏻
oh.
I was just gonna sell it but that also sounds good
Good job
This is a beautiful video
And that is a beautiful comment.
You're a really top notch dude! Definitely giving you a follow!
Aw, thanks Sarah! :)
I'm thinking of doing one and stitching it to my denim jacket. Because a jacket doesn't get washed as much as some other pieces of clothing.
Smart idea! :)

A great idea! Do you use waste canvas to get the grid formation or do you eyeball it?
@@MrXStitch Depends on the fabric. If the weave is coarse enough (say 30-40 epi), I'll count the threads. Otherwise, I'll use waste canvas.
I read there is a woman out there that stitches her looooong hair into her stitchings. Has anyone heard of her? I wish I’d made not of her.
I'm thinking a Donald Trump dart board, but could I bear looking at him on my wall?
Oh Gia, that's brilliant! But, I'm with you, could I actually look at him on my wall?! 😛😆
Be kind, isn't that what the tolerant left always says?
