Marshall amps never ceases to infuriate at least a little bit. They could be pushing out the craziest metalhead amps with that signature Marshall ethos: that glorious hotrodded, hairy, high adrenaline 'growl' that nobody else in the industry does. But the engineering team just won't turn up the mayhem to 11. They could not only be creating smiles but absolutely dominate the market 😩. Needless to say I am in love with the sample you have provided of this aftermarket modification of a timeless classic.
No man Marshall lost their soul years ago. Large companies just don’t care about anything but increasing their numbers. They are legally obligated to their investors to screw us over as much as possible. Mesa Boogie is next
Ethan...the owner and maker of those SFTY instrumental pickups is my amp tech lol. He threw new tubes in My engl invader and fixed it for me and while chatting and playing guitar in between him working on my amp i discovered hes the owner and maker of sfty instrumental pickups. Small world man lol
Sounds killer! But almost all your videos do! 😂 It probably also helps that you have metronome precision in your playing, which is something I'm SADLY lacking. I'd love to hear this and other Plexi takes on the circuit and mods. The Steve Stevens V2 would be amazing. I'm looking for something that can do modern metal but also get straight up Billy Idol and Atomic Playboys type sounds.... But I'm not super knowledgeable about Plexis, most are expensive, and it's just too difficult to get 5 to try. I'm kicking myself in the butt because I used to have a 1969 owned by Daisy Berkowitz. I got that, his 5150 (which I still have and is in one of my old, RUclips vids), and the drum machine they used before they got a drummer (the machine hot burned and Manson allegedly threw it out of his hotel window - I still have this too). Anyhow, I didn't have much of proof at the time that it was his gear, until getting a hold of him years later... So I sold it. I would have kept it, but I didn't know how to use the amp at the time and it was too ungodly loud for me to play at home. On 1, I thought I was going to blow the house down along with my neighbor's (townhouse situation). I also didn't have access to a power attenuator and couldn't afford one after buying all the gear, so yeah.. I had to sell it... But if I had more proof, perhaps I would have kept it! Now, some time later, hearing isolated track of Steve Stevens' playing, I'm jonesing for a Super Lead/Plexi-type amp that can also do modern, but I'm kinda shooting in the dark. Ideally, the amp would have to do both things, with no compromises. Oh yeah... Being able to cop some Hendrix in Hawaii would be cool too. I don't normally play that kind of stuff as I downtune to C or lower.. Like down to drop G... but his sounds in that show were killer.
Sounds sooo damn good! I love love love modded Marshall amps! At least Marshall's that can do killer HI Gain! I have the new 6505II, EVH 5150III EL34, Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Multi Watt (my favorite ever), KSR Colossus H-100 (also one of the best amps ever made) and my Kemper! I have to have to have to add a Modded Marshall to my collection! I've always wanted a Modded JCM 800 but also the Modded JMP is insane!
Imo this is what a Modern Marshall should sound like. They really need to Hire some people on the design and engineer side. My only gripe is a couple modern features to be added. For one IR Tech Out to a DAW without a cabinet plus ability to add at least 10 IRs for the User. An attenuator so it can be used live, In studio, an apartment or home bedroom spaces and ability to hook to a cab(stage monitoring) plus IR out for FOH live use
Jeremy makes some really awesome sounding amps.🤘🏻 Did you have him mod an amp or did you buy it that way? If he did it for you, what year did that amp start off Reissue SLP1959 start off as?
Yeah I’m intrigued by the Ground Zero stuff maybe a little more than Headfirst Still haven’t found an amp I like more than my MTL 100 . It’s amazing and even with 100 watts and no half power switch it sounds amazeballs at bedroom volumes Wizard 🧙 ATW
I have a stupid question, I've only used GreenBacks and V30's, how do Creambacks sound compared to those speakers? Are they close sounding to GreenBacks? BTW that amp sizzles 🤘🏼
the Hellion is a ground up build on an original PCB designed and built, tested 100% soup to nuts an original amplifier. This is just a mod he does on a donor amp.
@@RezaMatix Exactly. A speaker change can really change up the sound. Head sounds great though. Personally I, me, like it a little darker. A little less on the top. Are you EQing it in post or is it just straight off the mic?
@@frankpaws the raw audio always sounds better than youtube. This amp can give you anything Marshall you want. Speakers, mics, mic pres all make a difference. Im sure this would sound much better thru my Neve or API stuff, but im just super basic for expediency sake. I just shove a mic in front of the cab.
@@RezaMatix Mics make a difference, pres not so much. Speakers make the most difference though. Just leave the settings, mic and pre, and put an EVH in the same spot. You are going to find a difference in the tone. I have a Maney pre, UAD pre and UAD Apollo. There really isn't that much difference in the tone. I have 1970's serial paired 421s that have a copper coil over the current aluminum coil and they are different. Copper is darker. Alualuminum has too much fuzz for me.

I lower the presence at 3:23
You ever do any playthroughs at volume? I noticed you never put the master volume past 2 in your videos
sometimes 🤙🏼
does yours have the 4th gain stage?
How does this mod compare to the Hellion? On the fence to mod my SLP or sell it and get on the list.

Do you have an email , I wanted to ask you some questions about some different mods
.. as usual, sounds KILLER, Bro. What's this beast sell for?
it's a Mod package, you send him a donor amp and he does the work.
Does it come close to the Killer Kali?

You should try some different speakers as well. You'll get some completely different tones without changing up the head.

Any solid state built in boost?
No solid state boost. All tube.
There are diodes in the circuit, though. However, they are limited and adjustable via the Compressed/ Raw control.
Is that a Marshall JMP? 72?
1993 SLP reissue. It's got a metal faceplate like the 70's amps.
