Theatre criticism (indeed any decent criticism) is an unpacking of everything- a deeper dive. How does it emotionally resonate? What's the writer saying? What's the function of it? As Lyn rightly says, it's not enough to say you liked something. Justify why it worked for you. A broader context is required.
I think also give examples of what you would do alternatively if you critique something. Like, if there's a play about mental instability (King Lear, let's say) and there are slow set changes, you could suggest the set changes happening as the scenes end and begin to fit the tone of Lear not just losing his mind, but the fluidness of how he perceives the world. I mean, that's just an example I've made up, but things like that. Things to do alternatively (don't like "better" as a word).
