For those who struck on 1% - 1# open photos icon 2# open photos (there will be "photos," "for you" and "albums") 3# scroll down till the bottom and you will see "xxxx Photos, xxx Videos" and upload => if you see your uploading service is a pause then open it. (This is how I did my iCloud photos). I'm not sure whether it works for you or not.
Im not sure what settings I have configured by my photos automatically upload to the cloud and automatically get downloaded to the files on my laptop pc. How can I stop this since my pc files are flooded with uneccessary pics, even those that I delted on my iphone and even those that were merely screenshots of articles or something while using my phone. I would much rather just manually select & upload my pics to the computer every couple months. However I would still like the pics to go up to the cloud automatically but not directly to my pc files anymore. thanks
For the people stuck at 1% or have like 45go of "Others" : If your icloud photos library is "ON", turn it "OFF" and choose remove from iPhone, Don't panic the photos are stored on icloud, at this moment you can go on your iPhone storage and notice the "others" giving up space, wait till it gets a its lowest, And then turn back "ON" you icloud photos library and it should work

Ok so my phone is at max capacity and I bought 50 gigs to put my photos in iCloud. Select your photos, for example a holiday, in the photo app. Choose the share button, scroll to save in files, save on your device or in icloud drive, make a folder, ready and go back to the photo app and delete the holiday photos. Also delete it in the bin. The photos are in the file app. On your left under locations.

If you choose "optimize iPhone storage" in Settings > Your name> iCloud> photos, it'll only store the needed photos on your phone. When storage becomes low it'll just leave them in the cloud. If you delete a photo from your iPhone, it's synced, so it will remove it from iCloud, too.

*Technically* this would work, but each time you turn it back on, it's going to be a long and tedious process (measured in hours or days). If you're looking to "offload" your phones storage, you might want to look into Google photos. The offer unlimited storage (and good quality) and once uploaded you can remove them from your phone. (I would suggest turning off iCloud photos prior to this though, as if GPhotos removes a photo that's synced to iCloud, it'll get removed from all devices)

It really depends on many factors. The most important are: 1. The number of photos and videos you're uploading. 2. Your internet connection speed and reliability. Generally though it usually take a couple of days to a couple of weeks to get everything into iCloud.

How do I push photos that I took onto iCloud? iPhone uploads them when it wants to. I need to send those documents that I took pictures of to a party that is expecting them. I would say it's uncommon. And it can get a little interesting, too. Google Photos will ask you to remove items it's backed up from your phone, which will also remove them from iCloud. So be careful. But I backup to both. 😉

Genius Lounge so if i don’t have the option to delete the photos and videos from my phone (delete from the gallery not from iCloud) without the photos being deleted from my iCloud, how the iCloud backup helps me??? The point of the backing up is for saving my photo so I’ll have the option to clean my phone storage!!!

great question! Yes, albums do sync between devices, so long as they are using the same iCloud account and both have iCloud Photos turned on.

Nope. It's a sync situation. So everything should match on both sides. If you delete one, it'll be gone in both places

If you delete your photos from your devices, yes, they will be removed from iCloud, too. This is the nature of syncing.

It depends on how fast your connection is and how many photos / videos you have in your library.

My suggestion would be to use Google Photos if you're unable to use iCloud photos. It's free.

How do I push photos that I took onto iCloud? iPhone uploads them when it wants to. I need to send those documents that I took pictures of to a party that is expecting them. We don't have time to sit around and wait for the iPhone to decide when to do it. How can we push this to the cloud from iPhone.

What if it says paused because of iPhone storage?
in that case you'll need to purchase some additional storage space from Apple. You can find out how here:

Is it normal to backup on google photos AND iCloud?
I would say it's uncommon. And it can get a little interesting, too. Google Photos will ask you to remove items it's backed up from your phone, which will also remove them from iCloud. So be careful. But I backup to both. 😉

iCloud Photos isn't really a backup solution, as much of a sync solution.
If you need to backup and then clear space, we would recommend using Google Photos.

Genius Lounge so if i don’t have the option to delete the photos and videos from my phone (delete from the gallery not from iCloud) without the photos being deleted from my iCloud, how the iCloud backup helps me??? The point of the backing up is for saving my photo so I’ll have the option to clean my phone storage!!!
Turn off iCloud photos then delete the pics
