This MINECRAFT HARDCORE series was inspired by popular Minecraft RUclipsrs like MumboJumbo, Sandiction, aCookieGod and Wadzee. Similar to Hermitcraft SMP, 100 Days Minecraft and a challenge video - I try to survive as many days as I can on an Island in Hardcore Minecraft

More seriously.. I'd suggest leaves, and stripped logs.(Made by right clicking one with an axe.) Should be able to build a port with some decent storage. Barrels and chests. Also, for a simple design, use Campfires, then put them out with water. Combine with trapdoors and planks for said port. (You can also use leaves for a leaf roof to finish up your basic hut. Mobs can't spawn on it, and you can give it a classic point.)
One particular bit of advice is to look online for images, then use them for inspiration. You're right that the fences give it a survivor look, but they shouldn't be used for walls, but as small breaks along the beach. Stacking logs for a wall with a few cases where fencing is used can also work. You can use ladders to imitate binding keeping them together, or vines/trapdoors. Trapdoors also make for good windows in said log walls. Just pop on on the outside, then break the block it's attached to.
I'd suggest digging out the hill you're near too if you want to expand your beach property. Just a simple cliff dug out by hand, which you can make walls to walk on. Simple fences interspaced with logs like you've been doing, with slabs for the top and a ladder to get up to. There are tons of ways to get an image across.
... One criticism I can give you, it's a box of walls, rather than it curving with the shoreline. It gives you a small amount of space and feels artificially cramped. Expanding the walls facing the treasure cave 15 blocks out along where the sand goes up a block will likely improve it a good deal. It's up to you to make use of the space and make it feel like a campsite though. Some single logs and andersite around a campfire, as an example. Or crafting sandstone out of 4 sand for a simple path. A few dots denoting the existence of one could do wonders.

The block breaking to the tune of Zelda music is very satisfying.
SEAN! You need to start placing WAY more torches than you ever do. That's the reason mobs spawn in the most inconveniencing spots at bad times. Torches before aesthetically pleasing builds.

Slabs, walls and stairs are a builder’s best friends. It gives more volume to the walls. Also recommend trying to make various rooms so you don’t just build a square every time.

When dealing with the skeletons, remember: You are melee, and you have a shield. They're ranged only.
Just stop retreating, and close the distance while blocking. Then wait for them to shoot, hit them and block again. Rinse and repeat. :)

Building is about depth and layers, Sean. Best way to get good at building is to just go look up buildings and see what it is you like about them, then open a creative world and tinker around with them to learn. One of my favorite things to do is rebuild villages. When I start a project, I start looking up various houses, both real life and minecraft, and see what I can do with minecraft to replicate it. Then I find MC houses that have features I like and figure out how to put them together. The first step to getting good, however, is acknowledging that you can improve, and seeking out ways to get better. Good job taking that step.

@@jillbill7752 I still live in the side of a mountain. I just keep carving out some more of it everytime I need more room. I'm getting better though! I even put some carpet around my bed and a little redstone lamp :P Don't matter if your house ain't the best, long as ya got diamonds in your chest.
The book that u threw in the cave was actually from the same mod as the hammerhead sharks and the whales. It gives u information on the animals, like if they are friendly or not, how to tame them, what they can drop, etc.... Pretty useful stuff!!

Loved the video, two things that'll help when you find diamond dig around a little sometimes its connected by the corners instead of the side so one may be more. As for building look into adding different gradients and depth. Like slabs, trapdoors, and blocks that are similar just different shades of the same color😊

The way you play and comment While playing and in general the way you make your videos give off a vibe of freshness, carefreeness and a sense of home and acceptance that I never felt while watching other RUclipsrs’ work. 21:50 as a building focused player i recommend using trapdoors fencegates to decorate very plain looking walls, and giving your roof a unique shape makes the house look a lot less boring.
30:52 if you are making someting like this again, i recommend putting slabs or trapdoors on top of the fences.
I love the montages at 18:35, 27:43 and 32:52, then in the second part the music cuts abruptly at an appropriate time before it continues. And then there's my favorite music from any Legend of Zelda game at 21:02. :D Love the editing in this episode. I can't wait for part 2!

A good mod to use to help you keep track of the time and day is Guiclock. You can turn off needing the clock in your inventory or keep it, but it tells you the time and number of in-game days you've been playing.
Hey Sean, my MAN. Knowing that you are playing 1.12 (hopefully 1.12.2) let me recommend you a Challenge! "Grimoire of Gaia"
Another fantasy survival, so remove the horde of zombies and add "Ice and Fire" and "Mowzie's Mobs", maybe add "the Twilight Forest" for extra flavor (no need to GO into the Twilight
I would suggest add "Tinker's Construct" but I know many are tired of it or consider it cheating for as good the tools are.
Get your water, temperature, season and nutrition mod ;P
BUT MOST IMPORTANT. I want you to try "grimoire of Gaia". My Man! If you want a challenge, people say you won't find any better than those Fantasy Monsters. Don't even look into it, no need for research, because a man who takes a challenge face on is a brave man! don't even worry about your death counter. This is a Challenge to see how good you can survive these monsters.
Unless you want to take it like your RLCraft series. This will be your next biggest challenge

The glowing vines in the caves are called "Glow Lichen," they're just a decorative light emitting block that you can put on any side of most blocks.

I personally feel like more variation would be good like the fences instead of being one line in between the segments it would dip in the middle or raise at the poles, and the roof should be curved or have some slabs or raises at the corners.❤
Using stairs for the outlining and you could adapt it to be like a sort of Hawaiian hut type build
