Ballet Djoliba - Pyramides Des Instruments

- Directed by Moussa Célestin Camara, the national Ballet Djoliba performs for the first time with SambaLolo, at the 3rd edition of the LANYI djembekan/donkan festival, in Conakry, Guinée, with the theme: "Pyramides des instruments".
Ballet Djoliba was created in 1964 by the then president Amed Sekou Touré, as a second national ballet, to complement and inherit work of the first national ballet, Les Ballets Africain, which was heavily engaged with world-wide touring.
Many great artist have formed with Ballet Djoliba, including the great Mamady Keita. To learn more about their history, please visit:

We prefer the national theater, however the government did not allow performances there at the time.
I don't like the sound of the djembé 2020 : too much treble like conserv box
I preferd the sound of the 70'80'90'
But it s great to include the doum dance in the set now.
There is definitely a difference between the urban and village (or vintage) experience, but these ballets are pushing the envelope creatively (as you noticed), which is tough to do while staying true to tradition, tough to do from a village, and not the same task as it was in the 70s, 80s, or 90s. The tools change, the spirit remains.

But i know the différents between the music ballet and village.
And i have the sound références of " sacred forest " the opus 1...or O.N.Guinée with Noumoudy Keïta or Fatouabou Aboubacar Camara, M'y Favorite sound in ballet.
But i m a. Inconditionnal sound Fodé "Marseille "Yula : the Older and Master Kakilembé or A.Dramé, Soungalo Coulibaly.... all "Papa" .
Then also, somme youngs drummers (Burkina, cote d Ivoire, Guinée, Sénégal...) agree my favorite sound (in my hand)
I m not a young musician. And all other i talke about the sound of the instruments themselve 🐚and not of the playing in general🎶
With my all respect , we are together. And if we are different, we ve got à same thing together : we doing singing the Goat.
