I personally think that a person cannot have carbs without potassium. Because any time I eat pure sugar or pasta, or white rice, I start craving potassium rich foods, like tomato sauce, vegetables, fruit etc. And fat storage could work as blanket to keep body and its organs warm. Because human temperature is very different from the environment, so a lot of heat is often needed. on diets, the body cannibalize itself: eats its protein tissues of skin, heart, muscles, joints etc. And those proteins the body turns into carbs in order to feed the brain. As explained by Stronsistas, Georgi Dinkov and Ray Peat. You can also check Minesota starvation experiment.
