the funniest part about this trash show is that A that isn't true. criminals shaved paces of gold off of coins to make counter fit coins or sell the exes gold, while keeping the liter and less valuable coins. the ruling party's did some times lower the percentage of valuable mettles in their coins, since the coins where really actually pure gold or silver, but that's not what they are talking about here. they are talking about shaving off mettle from the coins to make more which was a crime, illegally done by criminals. point B: this is one i don't see people talking about nearly as often and i would like to change that. this episode is talking about how "money used to mean something and actually be baked by something with `real value` and now days money is just made up numbers with no `real value` and its all just made up numbers on a screen." and in another episode they are talking about how great crypto currencies are, because there value is "condoled by the people", and garneted hard money because its baked by the promises of some dipshit developer hungry for some quick cash... I hope I don't need to say more on this topic. its just disgustingly hypocritical to me.
@@alphawolf1211 the Roman Empire was in so much debt and didn’t even have enough money to pay there soldiers so the did clip the coins and lower the purity to produce more, by I do agree with you on point b

@tegaville9636 they lowered the pyrite of the couns. But as far as I'm aware of, that didn't involve clipping the existing coins. Instead, they probably just melted down the old higher purity coins entirely and made more lower quality coins form that. And that is a well-known fact and the reason for the collapse of the roman Empire. So obviously, no one is doing that kind of thing on that kind of scale anymore. Inflation is a necessity part of keeping a growing society alive. Over inflation is the problem. But that requires a failure on many people in the government. Zimbabwe in Africa is a good modern example of that. But they aren't arguing against over Inflation. They are trying to say that governments control the value of a currency and that it is bad because they are greedy and evil, so they make our money worth less so that they have more. Which is not true and just doesn't work like that. All governments that thought they could do that collapsed because of their attempts to stretch their money like that. Case and point Zimbabwe, and the roman Empire. That Bing said my main point is still that this really doesn't "expose" anyone or anything. If they get something like that wrong to make it look and sound more criminal, then people should really question the legitimacy of this show.
@TeRenner123 that is unfortunately not entirely true. In the roman Empire, people primarily trade with coins. High ranking soldiers and other officials where the ones getting additional fancy payments, and you could train in goods rather than coins But fun fact currency more often than not got its value from its weight rather than the simple number of coins you happened to have. So when the coins were being made with a lower percentage of valuable metal, they were often lighter than the more pure counterparts. So if you had a more pure coin after the value of the coins had gone down as a whole, the mire pure coin would have still held its higher value. But coins were more commonly used.
