    Eduard Nikolaevich Artemyev (commonly translated as Edward Artemiev) (Russian: Эдуа́рд Никола́евич Арте́мьев; born 30 November 1937) is a Russian composer of electronic music and film scores. Outside of Russia he is mostly known for his soundtracks for films such as Solaris, Siberiade, Stalker and Burnt by the Sun. Artemyev was born in Novosibirsk and studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Yuri Shaporin. His interest in electronic music and synthesizers began after his graduation in 1960 when electronic music was still in its infancy. He wrote his first composition in 1967 on one of the first synthesizers, the ANS synthesizer developed by the Soviet engineer Evgeny Murzin. He was thus one of the first composers and a pioneer of electronic music. His collaboration with the film director Andrei Tarkovsky in the 1970s made him well-known. He wrote the film scores of Tarkovsky's Solaris, Zerkalo and Stalker. Later he also wrote film scores for Andrei Konchalovsky and Nikita Mikhalkov. His film scores and his music received numerous accolades as well as three Nika Awards. Recently, he licensed several excerpts from the Solaris soundtrack in order to use them in the upcoming Spanish production The Cosmonaut. Eduard Artemyev wrote a couple of songs the most famous of them Deltaplan by Valery Leontiev. In 2001 he won the Special Silver St. George at the 23rd Moscow International Film Festival. Eduard Artemyev's composition Campaign or Death of the hero (Siberiade theme) has been used at 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Sochi, and his music theme from At Home Among Strangers has been used at the closing ceremony.

    Interesting, but wow that's a lot to take in. Still one of the best eras for weird synth music I guess.

    Kept listening to this on cassette for years until I could finally get ahold of the LP. Thank you for introducing me to Eduard Artemyev and much more, Peter Grygorcewicz. Rest in peace wherever you are. Luckily, album was re-issued on cd, as well though I just heard it has some re-recoding over the original tapes (!)

      Those new reissues are not authentic in many aspects. Artemiev deserves a complete works anthology.

      @@vinyltogether I wonder if I could make sure how different the mix is. I would not get used to a very different version or sound of these tracks I almost learned by heart back in the mid eighties. / Does Google translator do a good job if I say: Интересно, смогу ли я убедиться, насколько отличается микс? Я бы не привык к совершенно другой версии или звучанию этих треков, которые я почти выучил наизусть еще в середине восьмидесятых.

      @@christianlandaetatorres3836 да, Гугл неплохо справляется. Ну в частности трек Огонь звучит на диске в полтора раза медленнее, слышал предположение, якобы на виниле он записан с неверной скоростью. На мой взгляд, его слушать невозможно в медленной версии, а быстрая (тут) именно как стремительный лесной пожар звучит, очень прогрессивная композиция. В остальном надо смотреть, но что-то там намудрили в диске Mood-Pictures, часть треков убрали, напихали много других. На мой взгляд такой подход недопустим. Альбом уже запомнился таким, каким вышел на виниле, убирать и менять ничего недопустимо.

      @@vinyltogether forgot asking you what is the box set like? Does it contain the original mixes or are were they modified or remastered?

      а где такие или больше размером можно приобрести, не подскажете?

    • @vinyltogether
      @vinyltogether  7 лет назад

      Полагаю, что тираж на данный момент полностью распродан, их уже было мало, когда мы брали. Цена порядка 2000 рублей за папку, там 10 плакатов. Сейчас подобные вещи печатаются очень малыми тиражами и продаются очень ограниченно.
