I am old school back from 1993 to 2010 html coded websites (edu, friends and personal). I'm watching in Aug 2024. Retired (nursing admin) in 2010 and volunteered for non profit websites. Used a "builder" 2012- 2023, then attempted WP but frustrated with "blocks". Want to understand the backend. Started Daves CSS video and realized HTML refresher was needed. This video is so very insightful. HTML 5 is more layered then what I was doing 15 years ago. I'm now understanding how HTML and CSS work together. ❤ Plan to move on to his CSS and other webdev videos. My volunteering to update and maintain the websites for our local (small) non profits would not be possible for me without people like Dave.

    Some notes:
    - A section must have a heading to identify it.
    - When identifying a section or article with "aria-labelledby" attribute, the hash (#) isn't required like the "href" attribute.

Hi! I am 35, and I have a a kid and full time job. My job is okay, but I desperately want to work hybrid/from home as my husband does. I dream about being able to spend more time with family and stop wasting my time in everyday commute. I am taking my chance learning web development, as I feel like at this age I have no time left wondering around. I guess it's worth trying.
I recently found this channel and immediately appreciated sharing the knowledge in such a well-structured way for free. It's easy to understand and follow along. So far, I learned more in 2 hours than I did after a week on a PAID course on another platform! You channel is my favorite resource now! I am planning on completing Java Script next! So excited to learn!!

Dave, I want to thank you sincerely for this tutorial. It cleared up a lot of issues I was confused about with HTML, especially concerning divs, articles and sections.
I coded along with you as you taught how to create the "My Goals" pages, but I did the taco project entirely on on my own.
I got it to work correctly, but when I then followed you code your solution, I learned even more. The proper usage of articles and sections became very evident. Plus your overall structuring approach is just what I needed to see.
    Thanks again!

Hi Dave. This tutorial is close to perfection; and I've only been through the first 40 minutes so far. In addition to the excellent actual contents, one of the elements of this video that I particularly appreciate is the quality of your speech: just the right speed (or tempo, to put it in musical terms), your pleasant and comfortable tone of voice, and the clarity of your accent, which - by any measure - is a priceless thing for the French native speaker that I am and who can understand every single word. A million thank you.

Your teaching style is wonderful! I’ve started out with other courses (including those on Skillshare) and yours is, by far, the best. I like the speed you go and how you explain WHY you’re doing what you’re doing. I need that. Other instructors just say, “type this…” and “type that…” and I’m clueless as to the why. How could I possibly remember what, if I don’t know why? Anyhoo, I’m a few days into learning html5 and I feel like I’ll actually be able to stick with it because of your videos. (I tried learning XHTML years ago but gave up because I thought I just wasn’t smart enough) I now believe I AM smart enough and I plan to move on to other languages after I’m more confident in HTML and CSS. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this! It's crazy how much I've learnt. Dave covered a lot of essential and basic knowledge through out the tutorial and made it easy to follow. He took me from pretty much no knowlegde to understanding the general structure of html, furthermore semantic tags used to confuse me a lot, but after this they became much clearer to me! I had some trouble with the tables on the proyect, but I was able to do pretty much everything else alone. I really can't thank you enough, it had a huge impact on showing my boss a great improvement in html in just a matter of days :))

Good day Dave, thank you so much for creating this awesome tutorial as well as the CSS Tutorials for Beginners! I am new to website design and find it very interesting. I really like that you teach how to write code that is structurally and semantically correct. This gives a good foundation on how to properly write professional code. You cover coding from the beginning to more advanced and you explain everything you do at a good pace and in a simple way, so that us newbies can follow and understand. I have learnt so much from your tutorials and although I won't remember everything immediately, I know what can be done and just need to keep on practicing to get better and more comfortable.
