I grew up in Jeff’s home town of Pittsboro, Indiana. We were his biggest fans. We threw parades for him every time he won the Brickyard. He even showed up for us!

Like Daytona was for Dale Earnhardt, Indianapolis was for Jeff Gordon. A track that was made for him.

Not exactly, Earnhardt only won the Daytona 500 once in like 20 attempts, I think you meant Talledega.

I was there for his win in '04 and have the raced version die-cast from that race. Great video.

Same here! That die-cast is still one of my favorite possessions. This race was such a magical weekend for me.

I was able to go to his win in '01. The race was on my birthday in 2000, and I told everyone that I wanted tickets for my birthday. Didn't get them. In 2001, the race went from being run on Saturdays, to being run on Sundays, so it was on my birthday again. This time, I got tickets. Was disappointed by his qualifying effort, so that made the first half of the race kind of boring. But then his crew made a 2 tire change to get him towards the front, and that was all he needed.

All he needed was maybe 5 laps that day I also remember that one to their was a caution with about 25 to go by the time they finally waved the green flag their was 20 to go he restarted twenty he pasted a car a lap that day he just ran out of laps menard better be glad of that that's why I say he needed 5 more to get him really probably not 5 but just to be safe
