In truth, for all intents and purposes, US justice depends on exactly how much money you have to buy the best lawyers. A black man with a public defender would never get such a ruling. He doesn’t have the money. So, in every sense of the phrase, US justice is a Pay To Play system.

A poor person with a public defender would not get that outcome is more accurate.

Appeals are not often successful. I'm disappointed that the judge didn't check himself more because this is what happens. Appeals do cost major money so the rich are definitely set up to win.

Absolutely correct decision - the trial was an absolutely egregious example of mob lawfare, completely prejudicial, completely unlawful.
The presiding judge should be ashamed, as should the defendant's lawyers - thanks to their extraordinarily shortsighted tactics this woman will have to go through another trial, another ordeal.
And I happen to think Weinstein is guilty - but if you go about seeking a conviction in a crazy way you invite successful appeals.
This case is absolute testimony to the importance of due process.
