I think it would be more beneficial for Vietnam to offer something like a 5 years retirement visa. Most refugees do not have paperwork for proof of nationality, only migrants do. MY wife is a refugee, who left Vietnam in 1979. She has been back to her hometown and trying to track down her birth certificate but the hospital and the local ministry just point fingers at each other, seems they lost the record. We're looking to retire in Vietnam in the next few years but currently very difficult.

Hi Ken, Thank you for sharing information in this video. I am so happy as a full Vietnamese citizen while i am Australian citizen as well. I hope will see you somewhere in lovely SG some day. Cheers
This obviously applies only to Vietnamese people or people with Vietnamese ancestry. Foreigners as usual have no rights. I love Vietnam but there are so many obstacles for foreigners. And putting assets under your Vietnamese spouse NEVER ENDS UP WELL FOR THE FOREIGNER. You will see the truest colors of your spouse when you are getting divorced; don’t forget that.
This system also exists in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Etc. it's extremely easy to get a Taiwanese (Republic of China) passport but it's very difficult to get a family book and even people working there for decades have been unable to obtain one. This is because Asian countries view citizenship and nationality as distinct things.
Hello. I saw a news article that says something about issuance of identity card at Vietnamese Airports starting on July 1, 2024. Could you do a video on that please.
I'm a bit confused on this part, I thought one was supposed to have been included in a family book before being able to buy a condo or a house in VN. Is it the new law that one can legally obtain a family book after buying a property??
Foreigners or non-Vietnamese citizens can buy properties without land like a condo or apartment unit without a National ID or Family Book. If you want to buy a house with land, you need to have a National ID, well at least for now. Heard they planning to change this requirement.
@@user-hp1gn5mg7c I'm more concerned with the bit where he says a foreigner can buy a condo and then register in "your own family book" in order to get the national ID; how does a foreigner get that book in the first place?!
@@quasicesium This only works for VK, not for non-Vietnamese foreigners. Technically you can apply for a family book if your spouse is Vietnamese but cannot use it to apply for a national card since it also requires a birth certificate in VN.
