I had a Starling I raised it from a baby like you did, took it to work with me so I could feed him, I had him for 25 years, he could talk & whistle . Starlings are known to be one of the most talkative Bird there is, so I’ve heard. He sure could say a lot of words. He would take baths in my hands & I would let him outside too, thanks for sharing..

Im wondering if this isn’t a blackbird instead of a starling. The older he has gotten, the more I think he is a blackbird with the long tail and he sounds like a blackbird, especially when he flies.

    • @sonshineandsong
      @sonshineandsong 4 месяца назад

@@roundbaby4749 he's titled it a grackle and then talks about starlings being relatives. So confusing. I did some research to figure out what bird I found and learned that a grackle is related to blackbirds. So you are right.

I wish my little Robin responds the way your little guys do.
He's not ready to fly yet but soon. I let him out but he runs from me when it's time to go inside.
I hope soon it'll be ready to take flight and go on his adventures.
I have a feeling that once he goes, I'll never see him again 😢
It will be bitter sweet 🥲

You are doing absolutely the right thing! People who say things like leave the baby bird alone (therefore to die), or "kill him" (? some people are crazy... ) should be ignored! These are the kind of people who would destroy the planet if they could, and they are crazy! Your starling is amazing, beautiful, smart, and you raised him so well! It was great to watch his development, and how he learned, and how you took every precaution for him to feel safe, and finally confident.

Can’t thank you enough for capturing Buddy’s rescue and early life, but even more I thank you so deeply for demonstrating how a human male can be tender and caring. I do not see enough of that in our culture. I hope other men will follow your lead. 💜

I agree with you 100%. There are people that hate when humans are being nice to animals, because they think animals are safer when they fear us, because we are monsters. And although I know, that many people are disgusting, there are also nice people out there, and it is because of people like you that that little wonder is alive and well. If it was for nature, that bird would be dead long ago. Cheers dude, I really enjoy watching your videos.

as always, there is never a one sided truth. What you say might work fine with these birds, but it may be fatal if you do it to an eagle.
If you imprint an eagle since birth, it will no longer be able to survive in the wild, unless you teach it how to hunt.
Moreover, these birds are used to live in contact with humans, so it's no problem if they get used to us.
But for an eagle, it would be disaster. They would get too close to roads, and get run over or get shot at (some people believe eagles are a threat and therefore shoot them with rifles).
So yeah, it depends on what animal.

thank you for saying so. I appreciate that, especially since some commenters say I should kill them, because they are invasive, or that they should have been left alone, they were "supposed to be out of the nest". Crazy talk, when a nest was destroyed by predators, or wind, or whatever the case was, and I know what my front yard turns into at night, predators galore. I dont always address the nay-sayers, especially since I know I saved the lives of these babies. But again, your comment was so nice, it keeps us animal lovers going! :-)

This is so cool. I am taking care of a baby starling right now. Found him trapped in a fire pit with two dead siblings. After seeing your videos I'm wondering if I could keep him as an outdoor pet. I have a wooded property with plenty of other birds. I just learned that starlings stay in Canada during the winter, which was a concern of mine. Maybe I can build him an outdoor bird house and he might just end up staying, I don't know.

Such a nice series. I raised a baby Red-Vented Bulbul and it was such a dear. It would respond to my voice, my whistle, my car's horn (yes!). Whenever I came home it would get all excited and then fly to me. Once it was old enough, I let it fly outside too. For 8 or so days, it came back every evening but then one day she didn't return. I spoke to someone and they said she probably found a mate since at that age, they pair off (6 months). I haven't seen her since. Really miss that bird.
Thank you for being a nice and kind human being.

Yes, I agree with angel, this bird appears to be a rescued: Boat Tail Grackle. Grackles are part of the Crow family of birds, which means they are very intelligent. I believe Starlings may also be part of the Crow family, but they make a wide variety of mimicking bird sounds and can speak human words too. Very cool video. All good efforts to help the natural world, pays us back by helping enrich ourselves. 😃👍 peace and blessing to all.

I wish there was Part V. It is really heartwarming when people save animal's lives. Animals have feelings too and they pay you back the kindness you have given them.
