Igbo culture is beautiful, much love from South Africa! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
God bless you for pronouncing “Igbo” correctly… it’s very important to me as an igbo man
😂
😂😂😂😂
Nigeria have the best party in the world, detailed culture and they go all out when it comes to ceremonies 😍😍
Igbo culture is so beautiful . Igbo kwenu
Mmmh Igbo kwetu😂❤
Wrong translation. Igbo kwenu means: IGBOS ANSWER
Yaaa!
The money spraying symbolized a showering of happiness good fortune and a display of the guest affection for the couple .that s the meaning
It doesn't mean blessing.
It's just a way of supporting the couple.
@@Southernview3k this is a poor man explanation 😂
@@Southernview3k you think they threw the wedding looking for support… 🤦♂️
@@vewindadrummerboy2473
😂😂😂
It’s a Nigerian tradition of spraying money. The money is for the celebrants only. The celebrant usually assign people to pick the money in the behalf
We call it the money dance where we are from.
@@TheDemouchetsREACT I would like to answer this question. This video was the traditional wedding. The bride was just making an entrance before the proper traditional marriage ceremony starts.
The white wedding is usually done on a different day. And most likely in a church.
I am a Ghanaian and we do almost the same thing as our brothers and sisters from Nigeria.
We have our traditional marriage before the white wedding. Some choose to have it on the same day ie traditional marriage in the early morning followed by the white wedding where a pastor officiates. But many do them on different days.
Thank you! This is wonderful! We'd love to see all parts.
@@anthoniaabraham8673 just give credit to Nigerians for things you learnt from them before the internet you guys didn’t know what money spraying was about and they way Nigerian weddings were . A lot of African were asking a lot of questions and most African countries are trying to copy Nigerian style of wedding without giving Nigerians credit. Nowadays it’s called African wedding or Ghanaian wedding. Pls you can say you are their brothers or sisters but say things how it is and give respect from what you guys took from Nigeria. It’s really frustrating for Nigeria. Watch Ghanaian old video of your wedding on RUclips and see how you did your wedding and Nigerian old video has always been rich and full of style in their wedding. Pls for-once give Nigeria what is due to me. Doing the white wedding the next day was started by Nigerian too.
@@pretty9203
Why are you attacking our Ghanaian brother here?
Nigerian weddings are fire 🔥
Your wife was dancing to the Oja,what you call the flute. That is deep,in the Igbo culture the Oja is symbolic. It takes you to listen and connect to it deeply to express it.
Oh wow!❤
Oja is used in special occasions according to the Igbo culture,to dignity or reel out praise to a highly esteemed person or to express a dirge when a significant person does. But the catch to the depth is for each occasion the melody is different and it takes you to connect to it and express it's symbolism.
@@Lighted_Path God bless. Thanks for the explanation. The Igbo flute is dying out in Jamaica. Mento is no longer around and we only use it around Christmas times in a festival called Jonkunu. It's definitely a part of Igbo culture that survives (barely) in Jamaica today.
@@rqubedrqubed1634 I have heard of John Nkonu festival in Jamaica

Just getting to know about this now
3:29 As an Igbo man I can tell you that the woman kind of used the same criteria choosing their bridesmaids they choose people that they trust and people that are close to them so at least most of them may be family members and close friends growing up.🇳🇬

Nigerians are biiiiiiig on weddings, as a kid I attended at least one wedding every month😭 my sister just did 2 parts to her 3 part wedding, the introduction, then her traditional wedding, now we’re preparing for the white wedding with the reception and all
The uncle's always get drunk, don't worry they definitely got they section in every Nigerian wedding. The goal is to find them 😂😌

Chief Daddy is the name. There are lots of ethnic groups in Nigeria and they have their traditions. Igbo just have to be one of them.
I love when you said Igbo the correct way, and followed it up with 'a nation', that warmed my heart as an Igbo man. To answer your question, its the same as you described, though sometimes the bride might include her sister in-laws and people from the groom's family.
This is how it is being done generally in Nigeria, we Nigeria love to show up
Show up & show out! We'd love to attend a Nigerian wedding one day.
I'm Kenyan and I would love to visit West Africa.
Welcome to Igbo tribe Nigeria for now soon going home to my BIAFRA land
You guys actually look Igbo funnily enough!
Nigerians and Ghanaians go really big on the traditional weddings. This is usually a more important ceremony than the white wedding. A bride may have 6 outfits for the same day!
Is the white wedding the vowal exchange part? 6? I would feel like a Queen!
@@TheDemouchetsREACT in both you exchange 'vows'. But the traditional ceremony symbolises many things: the coming together of two families, paying bride price- symbolising that the man can take care of the woman and not selling her as has been understood by the West. The two ceremonies are held on two separate days
Ghanians were influenced by the Nigerian marriage culture, they were not always big with weddings even down to the spraying of money, they learned everything from the Nigerians, just highlighting and educating the public
@@rudolphphillip9395 yes b4 you know it. GHANAIAN will say Nigerians learned it from Ghana.. thanks for saying this ahead before they try.

I don't give Ghanaians a chance to claim what we taught them. They always know the truth but because of that envious spirit they deny our identity as a means to compete
The movie you are talking about is called "Chief Daddy "
This is a nigerian movie which is also known as 'Nollywood '
If you want more nollywood movie recommendations like 'Chief Daddy' here's my top 5:
WEDDING PARTY
BLOOD SISTERS
THE SET UP
GLAMOUR GIRLS
OMO GHETTO - THE SAGA
I watched Blood Sisters as well. My favorite Nollywood series was about a lawyer who was blackmailed and sent to prison, but I also can't think of the name.

❤️ love u sis....
U should watch "The Wedding Party 1&2".... It's romantic and dope and dramatic....
Wedding party is good
Bling lagosians
The movie you watched is "Chief Daddy". For the wedding, when the bride dances in, she goes around waving to all the people around. Also, usually our bridesmaids are close friends and family. And we have same-colour or same fabric groups depending on what the family chose for their well-wishers present.
This was the entrance, but you actually didn't get to see the actual traditional ceremony and what the bride and groom actually does which gives it all meaning. I'm Igbo by tribe, although a born and raised Londoner. The traditional marriage is waaaay more than what you got to see in this video.
Can you send us links to other parts of the wedding?
@@TheDemouchetsREACT Yes, will look for some for you
So true alot goes into traditional South African weddings as well
Just watch Flavour's Ada Ada music video and you will see what happens in an igbo wedding. What you see here is just an entrance not the real deal.
And before this, there would have been meetings between the two families introducing each other, asking for the woman’s hand in marriage, the families investigating each other, acceptance of the proposal, gift giving to the in-laws and setting of the marriage date. What you usually see on RUclips is the finale.
Nigerians are a whole vibe❤❤.

Did you just say Igbo wedding? If you are not rich as Igbo, you can't throw this kind of party. When it comes to wedding, bro, give it to Yoruba. Wether Yoruba are rich or poor, they always throw up the best parties. You know y'all don't come close to Yoruba in that aspect.
The Nigerian film is called Big Daddy. I watched it in Spain
In Igbo tribe we pick our close friends to be our brides maid or our sisters , it also applys to other tribes , norms

This is Igbo traditional marriage reception. It's always colourful and the bride usually choose her bridal train from friends and family which may consist of different age groups if she wishes. The dancers don't drink any shayo, rather they do constant practice.
That's not water 😂 that is palmwine from the palm tree. Too sweet. If u drink too much u did get drunk 😂
I recommend you watch all nigerian Tribes.
Yourba, Benin,idoma,tiv, Hausa...so many
Will do!
This traditional igbo wedding called igbankwu( wine carrying) bride went round to welcome her inlaws and guest, then her mother came to greet, the brides mum usually is much celebrated on such occasions. Bride changes dress comes out to collect a cup of palm wine to present to her husband, she has to search for him and other young men will try to get her to drink the wine for fun, when she finds the groom, she would kneel to show humility, takes a sip to show acceptance and then presents it to the groom who then drinks it all or sips and gives to his kinsman if he choses then they both go to meet her father, to kneel and recieve blessings, if the father is late a father figure in her family can stand in. Gifts are exchanged by both families, then party till you are cant
The movie you talking about is
"Chief Daddy" 😂There is a second part. Part 2
We didn't know there was a second part!😂 We're going to find it for our movie night
Those flutes are actually unique to the Igbos.
Every igbo decent wish to have Traditional wedding
I think the film is called chef daddy 🤷🏾♀️ much love from Uganda
The funny thing is if someone from outside Nigeria is getting married into Nigeria he or he will think it's a royalty thing
Believe it or not, when holding events in Igboland, we appease the rainmakers to hold the rain so the event day is sure to be sunny and bright.
I love the way you pronounced 'Igbo'😊...our bridesmaids and groomsmen are usually our close friends, those we grow up with or those we meet in the course of growing up who have positively impacted our lives😊❤🎉
I think the movie you're talking about is called Chief Daddy. It's a Nigerian movie and had some of Nigeria's finest movie stars.
This is an Igbo traditional marriage in Nigeria not a reception and Igbo is a tribe not a nation, the money that's is sprayed can't be picked up by any random person other than the people that has been assigned to pick it up, the part displayed in this video is just the beginning of the marriage, there are a lot of ceremonies done on that day and the most important one is the wine carrying ceremony, please react to a complete video next time I'm sure you guys will love it ❤️
Mhmmm one person is saying Igbo is a tribe and another person is saying it isn't. We have to research this. This video was requested.
@@TheDemouchetsREACT There are different tribes or what some people call ethnic groups in Nigeria...its mostly called tribes..... Nigeria is made up of several ethnic groups, the majority of which are the Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo...there are so many other large groups within this beautiful mix of cultures and tribes... Within these ethnic groups are several tribes numbering 371.
@@TheDemouchetsREACT
It's both.
Within Nigeria it's a Tribe.
But rightfully, it can be called a Nation.
If "Igboland" was a country, it would be bigger than many countries in Europe like Belgium, Slovenia, Netherlands and Switzerland
With at least 2 times the population and more in some cases
I guess that's what both persons were trying to communicate
IGbo is a tribe and Language at same time.
What do you mean by Igbo is a Tribe not a nation?... Do you care to explain?
😂😂..The movie is called ‘Chief Daddy’.
That is a good movie 😅.
That's is my mother tribes..we lit!
People who do wedding in Nigeria hardly loose money
The name of the movie is Chief Daddy. A Nigerian movie.
Lovely reaction as always. Regarding the spraying of money, I just want to say that people also give gifts of cash to the couple to help them as they start life together, but the sprayed cash is also for the couple. Guests aren't allowed to touch the money. Usually, one or two ( trusted/trustworthy) people are assigned the task of picking up the cash, organising it and later handing it over to the couple.
Right becuase who gone be pocketing the money other than the couple. No body lol
@@TheDemouchetsREACT lol, yeah
We the Igbo our culture is our pride we don't joke about it at all this is called igbwa nkwu in our land in Igbo 🎉🎉🎉
Everybody do not bring their own wine. The groom takes care and provides all the food and drinks for everyone.
Your bridesmaid can be your family, school mates, class mates, childhood friends, friends from work, or friends in general, family friends, etc.
You just got a new subscriber
You just got a new family! Welcome!
Lol yes, there is definitely "Liquoring" going on throughout the event. In fact, Palm Wine is a popular alcoholic drink that many people consume during the wedding.
Guys, go for " best groomsman congolese wedding entrance ever" its a blast!!!
Nigeria as a country is culturally diverse and “Igbo" is not a nation but an ethnic group/tribe in Nigeria, we have over 371 ethnic groups in Nigeria and the Igbo tribe is one of them
Money. It’s just traditional but also the bride and groom spend so much for the wedding.
A lot of it is just showing appreciation.
But many people use it to front wealth which is not good but it is what it is. 🤷🏿♂️
That movie was "Chief Daddy". Most Nigerian funerals are like marriage ceremonies😅
@@chinweokeosondu1797 I don't think so it depends if it a young person then it's a sad burial but if it's an old person then it's a celebration of life which means party all the way just like my grandma's burial, she died at 94yrs
The thing is that, generally anyone saying Africa usually they focus much on either South Africa or Nigeria. now people are covering more on Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt and maybe there may be some other countries but usually when westerners say they are doing something on Africa they usually revolve around these countries. I'm Malawian and there are other countries like Algeria,Burkina Faco, DRC, Tchad, Rwanda and Botwana that are sidelined. Malawi is one of those sidelined countries. Even our African Music awards mostly nominate from SA or Nigeria and some Tanzanian artists so I Don't know why things are like that. But you guys I know you're trying and you're doing great and i love my Nigerian brothers and sisters they're amazing, just a suggestion to try to cover other countries if u can.
I know you mean well, but we are not other reactors. We don't watch other reaction channels to know what they do. We like to go off the beaten path. Our love is for Africa, not just one country within Africa. ❤Here is our Africa playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLycUc8cOIl8PSdWFa6tMbVdDgizCLcZmC
There’s always plenty drinks
And mixed shit that will knock you out for days 😂😂
React to Hausa Northern part of Nigerian Wedding
😂😅The Name of the movie is Chief Daddy 😂😢. Chief beecroft and his concubines 😅
As a gabonese woman thats Fang (my ethnic group) our tradition wedding ceremonies are a bit like this. each familly wears a different print and fabric (they can be what ever as long as we can differenciate the 2 families). and they will sit opposite eachother.
it usually starts with the husbands familly asking again to marry the daughter, there is banter back forth as well as gift given to the familly, money, drinks, alcohol, etc whatever really the more the better.
the wedding party is mostly family and close friends. the woman escort you sheilding you from your husband but not you family until you get in front of him. you would traditional dance as well to show off your cultural heritage. will be handed off to her husband and their family. the the dowry gets accepted. then the bride goes to change in a formal outfit. they get blessed then the party can start.
Wow, the description sounds beautiful and it also sounds very similar to Yoruba weddings.
In Nigeria, they are two weddings, The traditional wedding which is this and the white wedding ( that's church or mosque wedding) accompanied with a reception
Trust me we liquoring for 3 days straight 😂😂😂
They have the most Beautiful Wedding I have ever seen and, I am from America
Choosing the bridal party usually is about best or really good friends, close relatives too!
Great video. Love the reaction.
Those coral beads the bride is wearing are very expensive. Mainly because the Western world stopped people getting corals any more so to find real coral, it is like pearls. Many people tend to hire it for the traditional wedding ceremony.
It is always a source of pride for the mother to see her son or daughter get married - mostly it is done in the bride's home (or due to number of guests, a venue picked by the bride's family).
It is essentially for the groom's family to come to request for the hand of the woman. Once, accepted, they get blessed by the family.
This was how marriages were really done in the bible - not white wedding as we see these days. Before once the family has given blessings, you are recognised as husband and wife. No papers exchanged. If you separate, it the family that gets involved to resolve it or conclude it is over. Due to government rules and courts, most people have two weddings, the registry or church or Islamic religious wedding that will provide written marriage license.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
The movie was Chief Daddy
And they were from several parts of Nigeria
He wasn't a governor, he was a CEO.
If the entrance of the bride already is like that, you just know the food at that wedding is going to SLAP!

There are people assigned to pick the money up for the couple and the person keep the money safe. But it must be someone you trust
In the past, igbos were presented as a tribe. But with modern anthropology and studies, that notion has since changed. The late famed novelist, and historian, Chinue Achebe, described the igbos as a nation and not a tribe. The Igbos who number about 50 to 60 million people are NOT only found in Nigeria. They are also indegenous Igbos in Cameroon. Gabon, Equtorial Guinea etc. This whole tribe over nation debate was a deliberate attempt by the early British colonial masters to limit Igbo numbers than what it actually was as a means to easily purge the "rebellious Igbo nature." They're historical documents to buttress this occurrence.
That being, you should kindly react to the Obi Cubana mother's (lgbo)funeral that went on weeks in which 348 cows, about a thousand rams, goats, chickens etc.were slaughtered for the celebration. They went from spraying money to throwing money bundles at dancers and the man himself. People had suitcases(l repeat, suitcases) of money which they emptied only to return with more suitcases. It was unbelievable!
Onye akuko. No need to over-exaggerate.
