Standing at only 150 cms, that petite framed body has the strongest lung power that can sustain long riffing notes on the high register in one breath (record 42 secs) and as you say it she can cover all keys in your piano lol....the one and only Hurricane Katrina! As it happens, she did this singing live in the kitchenette of her flat. 🤣 Sooner or later you will come to view some of her vids done singing at home raw; in her chamber, their lounge, and the foyer hallway of her house. She did it quite often during the pandemic for her followers online. They request songs, and she sings impromptu. It's crazy! You also need to see her one-take cover sessions. You won't believe it. Katrina Velarde is criminally underrated IMHO.
There are quite a few powerhouse singers out there, but she definitely is on the elite of elite level.

You bring up something that I love about her, she can do it all, for example, her runs are world class, so precise and clean, but she doesn't just throw them anywhere, she always stays true to the message she is conveying. Unless she is just having fun with something, then look out.

Hi MDP! I love your reactions to Filipino artists let alone Katrina V. I'd love for you to react to her Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing (Cover) WHILE BABYSITTING his son. You'll be blown away by her vocals even more. The video was shot using a smartphone and a regular mic from iPhone earphones (I believe) and it was a 5 year-old video but still is gold even though the quality is not that good. Please check it out.

Yes she's amazing! That video was 4 yrs ago & her voice has matured. She sang this same song live (Live at Glorietta) this year & it's even better, although audio is not as clear. Pls react to her duet with Jessica Villarubin, I SURRENDER (Celine Dion), it's unbelievable. And for her live performances, I suggest SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW & WHITNEY HOUSTON MEDLEY (both are on Qritiko channel). I recommend you listen to Katrina live on stage singing ‘Never Enough’ (again) … shot from the audience. She starts out doing 3-4 impressions, and then finishes out as herself. The finish of her ‘Never Enough’ in this version is def a kicker. A must watch! :)

Katrina Velarde is a vocal beast and not only that, she is a superb songstress and technical master singer. She should be an international superstar, household name. FTR, I am a retired professional music critic with 45+ years experience. I saw Whitney, Celine, Mariah, etc., live, in their Apex elite prime and Katrina is in their class.
I have seen her perform live with a band and i get goosebumps all the time.. those high notes plus amazing breath control..👍👍👍

Katrina can hold her breath for 40sec. While hitting several notes. Its just one of her performance. You will be amaze if you react to her Whitney Houston's medley. Believe me
That's not even close yet to her top range... She can belt and sustain a B5 note in mixed voice and can go as high as B7 note in her whistle register... What's amazing on this cover is her control to stick to the original version except for that one big note, because Katrina is known for her superb melisma and she didn't overdo it because it isn't necessary... Her runs and riffs are out of this world! Based on the music that you love reacting to, you may review her cover of THIS IS ME where she also did the background vocals and I AM CHANGING, both are available on her channel. My favorite solo Katrina performances though are her Whitney Houston Medley, the band version of Dangerously In Love and I Wanna Know What Love Is.

I only mentioned D7 on the comment only because it was the one she hit while singing. I haven’t seen her reach Eb7, E7, F7, F#7, G7, G#7, A7 and Bb7 though. But that is noted. Point taken. KV's & 4th Impact are my favorite covers of this song. Filipino singers used to do that. Sing a song many think is difficult & make it more difficult. They are very best at that. 🥰

Curious how we feel about most singers (Katrina included) shifting the 'for me' to 'for may' when they belt. Regardless, that's some singing.
Its a smart singing technique. Changing vowels is a really good way of making the note sound less harsh and helps to stay on pitch.

So many people thought that she was lip-synching this, she caught a lot of hate for it. So about two weeks later, she went on stage live at an open mic and did it again just to prove that she really did that. It's BEAUTIFUL.

I think musically if she stayed on that top note without changing, that note will clash with chord progression that's why she chose to riff to a different note to keep up with the chord progression.
She already holds that note through the same chords when she first jumps up there, I think getting off the note might sound rough, however, so I get your point.
