I see I haven't missed out on anything on TV the past 10 years
I have a wardrobe and a secretary (desk) that was owned by an ancestor (my great-grandmother I think. I'm still in discovery of the history of both pieces). Hopefully, I'll pass it on to one of my grandchildren or a cousin; but if not, to our local museum of history and culture.
That sounds like an amazing piece of your history to have, hopefully it gets to stay in the family!
@ancestryUS I was just wondering I got a DNA kit for my birthday in June. I followed the instructions and then sent it in by mailbox. I am wondering how long it takes to reach the DNA facility? I sent it 5 days ago and I am from Canada.
Hi lyrical hr, and thanks for stopping by. We would be happy to advise.
From the date you sent the kit back to us, it can take up to 20 business days to scan as received. The Lab receives high volumes of kits daily, which they then have to sort and scan individually. As long as your kit is activated on your profile, you will get updates of the processing of the DNA. You will get an email and a notification on your Ancestry profile once it is scanned. support.ancestry.com/s/article/AncestryDNA-Test-Status
We hope this helps and we wish you a nice day!
@@AncestryUS thank you very much that helps me out 🙏🏼
You are so welcome lyrical hr! We appreciate your excitement and are delighted to be able to help answer your questions.
I'm sad to say l'm 62 years old and never met my dad I was told years ago that when I was little he would watch me play as little one but as I got older and said to myself I guess I can live with out him my wife found he some years ago and talk with his sister and she talked to him and he denied me so with said I said ok no problem with me I lived this long with out knowing my dad I guess that he's not a MAN .... But that's OK I still had my Grandfather!!!
It's sad that men can't stand up for the kid's
My wife started years ago doing the family tree and she found out a lot of things witch was cool she put a lot of time into it if knowing what I seen her do I wish I would have kept a note book about things that happened in my life and a lot of pictures!!
What item do you plan to pass down to your family? Tell us about it!
I am infertile and have several family heirlooms (I am the oldest child, oldest daughter, oldest grandchild, oldest granddaughter as well as oldest great granddaughter and oldest great grandchild on both branches of my family tree so I will have to decide where they go at some point because my brother (all of our cousins are younger than us) chose to have no children as well. Perhaps museums will get them because many in the family are disinterested in the "old" stuff unless it is jewelry etc, and none of it is. The ones I will mention though, is a set of 1911-ish paper dolls that belonged to my great grandmother (died at age 28) and a 1874 treadle sewing machine that belonged to my 3rd great grandmother (died in 1947).
Your story sounds very similar to mine. Oldest grandchild, no children, no one to pass things on to.. the main things passed down to me are family photographs and a few war medals. A few of my cousins on mums side have had children now.. so maybe as they get older they will take an interest in the family history. My dad's side of the family ends with me and my sister.
@@whiterosewellbeing I do have 1st cousins on both sides, but they are not interested and I know that they (or thier children) would just sell it all. It is sad that the past couple of generations do not care about the past, not even thier own families past. My parents are upset (in some ways angry) that thier personal line ends with my brother and I because they never got thier head around the fact that no one is obligated to give thier parents grandchildren. If I could have afforded to adopt, I would have, but it is hard for single women to support themselves (or children as single moms), never mind afford to adopt children.
@@rosameryrojas-delcerro1059same out of all my siblings I’m probably the only one who cares about ancestry and my families history even my cousins don’t really care which is so sad to me. So I basically have to keep the family stories and history alive.
@@gmg9010 My brother does care, but being the daughter, I got most of the stuff, since it has been the women in my family were the ones who saved the heirlooms.
