You know it just hit me, the Aston Martin Lola was probably the inspiration for the DPi formula. You take a chassis from a company that specializes in building race cars for customers and dress it up in a well-known road car brand's design language. There was also an MG Lola, but it wasn't very evocative of early 2000s MGs at all.
With the pit lane clash, it would have been better if Pedro Lamy had stopped on the circuit and removed the rear bodywork completely and left it behind the barrier, thus possibly reducing the amount of damage the flapping tyre could do. Would that have been legal?
