We repair and maintain all our companies tools and as much as I'm out in the field working with the boys I'm in our shop fixing the tools. Dean's channel is just invaluable to us, instead of taking our tools to the local repair shop which could take over a month with very important tools down we just fix it ourselves now and we can't find anyone else that shows the teardown and reassembly as detailed as Dean's channel. Cheers my man.
Grey report and I liked how you were honest about forgetting that switch part. ( I normally forget the wave washer which means pulling the motor apart). I enjoy going to school on your knowledge
Have you ever considered using an ultrasonic cleaner for these large hammers? It would take more time, but you could do other things while waiting? Loving the videos, keep them coming
"Lovely job!" Yes indeed, I can literarily feel the love and satisfaction you have for working on these old sturdy Makitas. And in a distant but nevertheless slightly similar way, I can feel it too. Very satisfactory to watch Dean so keep them videos coming ...
Very interesting Dean. I have a HR4011C in bits at the moment and it is surprising how much it differs from the HR4013C. All the best from Cardiff and keep up the good work!
Dean why wouldn't you have wiped down the outside of the box? Especially since you cleaned the inside of it. It would have the appearance of a new machine, inside a new box.
@Matt-ns2ty Yes I understand that, however it's not about that. A simple wipe down on the outside brings it to another level of service. Imagine the feeling it gives a customer when he picks up his tool and his case/ tools look like new again. This builds a strong relationship with your customers. Besides how long would it take to wipe it off while cleaning it out?
@@antonwearsakilt5209 or maybe he knows the guys and he doesn't care about that, unlike you and me. I agree with you I think it would have been better, but functionally I doesn't change anything unlike the inside of the box.
@Matt-ns2ty Well in that case, he should have wiped it off, and added a red Christmas bow to the box, seeing as Dean is a bit like one of Santa's elfs 🤣
Crikey! 😳 ld need some tranquillisers and a lie down after that effort! PTSD overload if l attempted that, and l forgot a part deep down inside that thing,…eeerg. You’re my hero Dean. 👍🏻
@deandohertygreaser wow that's a lot cheaper than I would have thought. I would love to have your level of knowledge in... Well anything really 😂 thanks for the reply and videos
What I want to know is what devilish concrete is in that yellow bucket...years of hammers chipping at it and it never breaks. That's what I want to repair my foundation with!
FYI : An SDS drill is called such because "SDS" stands for "Slotted Drive System," referring to the unique design of the chuck that allows for special drill bits with slots or indentations to fit securely, enabling powerful drilling through hard materials like concrete and masonry; essentially, the name describes how the drill bit attaches to the drill itself.
Hey dean, who would you say makes the best cordless hammer drill? Currently in the market for a new one and can’t make my mind up between Bosch, Makita or Hilti
Is it necessary to use different grease on different parts of the drill, or is it just a myth? My experience is that grease from the reservoir will get into every moving part of the drill sooner or later
Hi Dean you did a video about a sds bit stuck in the chuck, think it was part of a marathon video so unable to find it. It's a dewalt DCH273 any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Gerard
Happened to me, I welded a washer on the bit and manually hammered it out of the chuck. I think you can do the same thing with a vise holding the bit in place while you pull the chuck and machine out.
Good news got the bit out of the chuck, it was a two man job. One pulling the chuck back and the other pulling the bit and hitting the bit will a small hammer to shock it. 😊
Man calls repair shop: The tool just fell apart. Repairman: Bring it in...we gotta see this... Man brings tool in: see for yourself Repairman: I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it with me own eyes 👀
So Ireland is probably the biggest market outside Japan for these 110V hammers. Not much used in USA as everything there is made of wood. Strange, never heard of that 110V rule elsewhere.
13:31 all thoes little pices just laying everywhere, so impressive. I'd have to keep everything put together and still not be able to do it, then send it to you hahah
Those two piston seals would probably be a lot easier to fit if you drop them in some hot water first. Not in your tea cup though, that would probably do more damage than strictly necessary. 😎

That technique for getting the crank out was very slick. I must remember that.
This man got Amazing skills.
Love your work dean❤
Thank you so much 😀
I don’t own power tools and have no untested in power tools but cannot stop watching this channel
You are a magician Dean… 👍
Fantastic job! Appreciate that you kept in the part you missed, I'd miss about 5. Well done

fixmyproperty AI fixes this. Repairing Makita HR4013C rotary hammer.
wooooo what a good work, you deserve to be paid good for what you do ,keep it up sir
Nice job i can't believe where you know where everything goes
Nice job very informative 👍
as always great content looking forward to the next drop
Not to mention the step by step repair and reassembly advice and commentary. Many Thanks,Dean - you are an inspiration to us all
One of your best Dean, captivating.
For me, cleaning is not boring...because I don't have to do it.😄
But it is satisfying to watch...more of this please😃👍
Will do!!
A new subscriber to your channel. Absolutely fantastic and fascinating to hear your knowledge on the power tools. 👍
"Lovely job!" Yes indeed, I can literarily feel the love and satisfaction you have for working on these old sturdy Makitas. And in a distant but nevertheless slightly similar way, I can feel it too. Very satisfactory to watch Dean so keep them videos coming ...
Thank you very much!

I have this exact model - it's been used very little...it's like new...I'm not a craftsman, and I only use it occasionally.
Great video. Impressive skills and knowledge.
Would a large ultrasonic cleaner help with the cleaning? I know many auto shops use them for engine parts.
Ps,..l really miss the red tartan rags. 😐 I have similar T towels here we don’t use,..l might post em to you for Christmas,..😅
Nearly time for a parts washer clean? I love the parts washer lucky dip game.
That must be a good feeling dude.
Dean why wouldn't you have wiped down the outside of the box? Especially since you cleaned the inside of it. It would have the appearance of a new machine, inside a new box.
Because it's gonna get dirty really quickly if this guy does concrete really often or professionally

Subs flying up, so they should be!!

Great job I have a question Dean the rotor and estator for clean well you aplply kerosene or only air?
both
Se vc ligar ele continuamente a rotação fica alta e não bate aí tem que ficar ligando e desligando pra dar impulso para bater
Thanks Dean. Doesn't all this parts and labour cost more than a new tool?
Not at all, not even close. This cost 120 euro and a new one cost 800
@deandohertygreaser wow that's a lot cheaper than I would have thought. I would love to have your level of knowledge in... Well anything really 😂 thanks for the reply and videos
How do you even begin to get into this - so much knowledge- I get confused reading schematics 😅
What I want to know is what devilish concrete is in that yellow bucket...years of hammers chipping at it and it never breaks. That's what I want to repair my foundation with!
ha, its a metal transformer
@deandohertygreaser a Decepticon I reckon
οκ mr. in greece.
Would an auto parts washer, like a big dishwasher, be cost-effective to clean and degrease the parts?
FYI : An SDS drill is called such because "SDS" stands for "Slotted Drive System," referring to the unique design of the chuck that allows for special drill bits with slots or indentations to fit securely, enabling powerful drilling through hard materials like concrete and masonry; essentially, the name describes how the drill bit attaches to the drill itself.
Hey dean, who would you say makes the best cordless hammer drill? Currently in the market for a new one and can’t make my mind up between Bosch, Makita or Hilti
Hilti had gone to grap, bosch is good for the 36v drills. but for general work id always go makita now. better price and just as good
@ thanks for your reply, I ended up buying the 40v HR003gz as I’ve started switching over to the 40v system from LXT.
Is it necessary to use different grease on different parts of the drill, or is it just a myth? My experience is that grease from the reservoir will get into every moving part of the drill sooner or later
one grease will do. i only use different types to make it more convenient for myself
@@deandohertygreaser Thanks, that put to rest the puzzle I always have
The fan assembly on my HM0860C is broken. Fan assembl76 -135058-1. Makita doesn't stock it anymore. Any others machines part that would fit on there?
Como posso melhorar as batidas do meu martelete? pois ele só bate bem quando esquenta
Todos são assim, troque a graxa.
👍👍
Keep em coming👍💪
need an apprentice dean

@zaxmaxlax I'll give it a go in the vise when I get time lol.
Good news got the bit out of the chuck, it was a two man job. One pulling the chuck back and the other pulling the bit and hitting the bit will a small hammer to shock it. 😊
Dean I am .amazed that you know were everything goes that is so wonderful how you do it ,keep up the great videos!!!
I would love to make money and doing what you're doing
Why did I just watch this whole video?
dont ask me, i just work here.
Because the man is absolutely brilliant at what he does 👍👍👀
Too many parts. Bosch seems to be easier. Looks like a job for the pros only.
Great job Dean!! Your customers must love it getting there tools back like new 👍👍👀
Man calls repair shop: The tool just fell apart.
Repairman: Bring it in...we gotta see this...
Man brings tool in: see for yourself
Repairman: I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it with me own eyes 👀
All that and you couldn't clean the outside of the box? LOL!Thanks again Dean!!!!!!
i dont want him to think im crazy
@deandohertygreaser LOL!!!
Weirdly comforting when Dean works on a piece of equipment you actually own yourself
That’s kind of the idea.. if it breaks and you will know what the contents are in it total win win
Armatures burn like popcorn in those
My comment about pressing the like button has disappeared.
Something fishy going on here
So Ireland is probably the biggest market outside Japan for these 110V hammers. Not much used in USA as everything there is made of wood. Strange, never heard of that 110V rule elsewhere.
I always make sure I have a nice glass of port ready for the parts washer scenes. Even on fast forward I find them to be quite therapeutic.
Find an old stainless steel lined dishwasher and convert it to a greasy parts washer.🤪
I bet you wish tools came apart for real that quick in that great intro.
13:31 all thoes little pices just laying everywhere, so impressive. I'd have to keep everything put together and still not be able to do it, then send it to you hahah

Nah, he has fingernails made of steel!
Dean is so good he’d probably fix that transformer that he uses to test the drills 😂
