    This is great - beautifully explained, gently and slowly, covering all the angles. As a Sassenach (but of course with Scottish ancestors - yeah, we all claim that ;-) !!), I love the accent.

    Thank you very much, my shower hose was gushing water at the base until I heard your tip about doubling up with the old washer. Life saver!

    brilliant! was panicking after water still sprayed out after I replaced the hose, but using two washers as you advised sorted it, problem solved, thank you very much.

    Thanks Shower Doctor, I am indebted to you. My shower hose cracked and as someone with poor DIY skills, I had no idea what to do. I followed the instructions in this video and now I have a fully working shower hose with no leaks. Very happy!

    Plus one for the "use two washers" trick (at 4'24 in the video). At first, the hose leaked mixer side - despite being well tightened with a large monkey wrench.
    A trip to the recycling bin and rescuing the old washers later - and perfect. This is a simple, pro tip. Thanks for posting it.

    Excellent. Thanks alot. The bit about the chrome ends is especially helpful. As is the suggestion to double up the washers if necessary.

    very helpful tutorial. is it possible that you could do one on fixing a shower hose leak that doesn't involve fixing either ends of a shower but when it springs a leak in the middle of the hose. what's the easiest way to repair that type of a leak without forking out loads for a new hose? it would be helpful to people on a budget. Thanks

    Thank You i just managed to fix my Leaking Shower head that no one else in the house could fix , They had it leaking out the bottom where the hose attaches to the shower , 2 men i knew apparently were going to take it apart , i goes in unattached it like you did ,reattached it and guess what ? Shower works fine .I was in for less than 10 mins , the others were in for about an hour 😂 The guys are gutted that a woman who knows nothing and never dealt with the the shower fixed it in 5 mins without tearing it apart 🎉🎉🎉from

  • @Claymor621

    This did me no good. I've changed hoses before and always had slight leak problems at first but this time it's a no-no. This hose leaks quite a lot on the wall attachment with one washer but with two washers it just won't screw on no matter what. With one washer I tried tightening with a spanner using a rag as in the vid but it did chip the cone anyway so I have to buy another hose, it also made it very hard to get it off to try again. My previous trick of slipping a washer over the hose end under the cone wouldn't work. Nor did putting PTFE tape on the thread. I'm going to have to try again with another hose and hope the cones are slightly different.

    Help, I just can't unloosen the hose from the shower unit, could I spray it with Cilit Bang as it seems a hut gunged up?

    I could swear you're unscrewing it clockwise?! I can't get mine off and would really like to know if I'm actually just making it tighter.

    • @CJ-ds2lt
      @CJ-ds2lt 5 лет назад +1

      Kiinell you’re right, he is unscrewing clockwise.
      Left-y loosey; righty tighty

    • @juliemandell
      @juliemandell 5 лет назад

      @@CJ-ds2lt Normally yes - and if you're lying on the floor of the shower reaching up to unscrew it definitely use lefty loosey. But when the hose connection is mounted upside down it's the opposite because of your body position in relation to the threads - hope that makes sense!

    Would be great but 'hand tight' x limescale from hell for 8 years = never coming off :( took the skin off my hand nicely though :( :( but at least I haven't broken it I suppose :) going to spray it with vinegar, wrap it in vinegar and basically vinegar everywhere overnight, then if that doesn't work, explosives. Thanks

    My Mira Excel had the head attached via a nut that I just accidentally broke in half (half is still attached) should I remove this and try and fix the hose on with its own threaded end? I am afraid!

    Hoses seem to be thinner these days, i.e. less in diameter. My six year old Mira power shower has just got a new hose from Robert Dyas - not a Mira one - and is not that powerful anymore. The Mira ones I have seen are also thinner than the one I had.

  • @Claymor621

    This is nonsense - I had problems only because the shower hoses sold by a major UK DIY retailer beginning with W all have cones where thread starts a milllimetre or two from the end, they cannot be put on properly on some showers. After trying all the above for over an hour it wouldn't stop leaking. Went to B&? and got one - it cost more but was on with no leak first time, less than two minutes.
