- This clip is an average start-up from UK Gold 2, between 6pm and 2am they used to repeat the daytime UK Gold schedule in the evening. The channel launched as UK Gold Classics in October 1998, then UK Gold 2, then UK G2 in November 2003, then UKTV G2 in March 2004 and finally Dave in October 2007, how the channel has come a long way since then.

Thanks for an excellent trip down memory lane. This reminds me of when we first got Sky Digital(around the same time).
UK Gold 2 was another channel from UKTV showing roughly the same programmes as UK Gold 1 but aimed at a slightly younger male auidance. The channel was then renamed UKTV g2 and then again to Dave.
I was always under the impression there was a UK Gold Classics channel which launched in October 1998. Never been sure though if it was a timeshifted version of UK Gold at this point or if it was a different channel.
ahhhh happy memories i remember these being used. scary to think its 11 years ago though...

Yes. It was.
The same idents used on UK Gold were seen on UK Gold 2.
Ooh, six days before my birth.
I just wish, to this very day, that the continuity announcers would slip up once in a while and say, 'Now on BBC1' when they are voicing, say, Yesterday, or Dave.
After all, they are the same teams voicing them. AND the same companies running them. Give or take a bit of Virgin!
