Grain elevators typically sell corn at 15% moisture. Check corn storage tables moisture vs time stored. 15% moisture is too high for long term storage. There is a vid on YT where buckets exploded from the rotting corn. LDS prep manual recommends grain at 10% moisture for long term. I have a drier that I built that lets me reduce feed corn moisture to 10%. Then I put it in Mylar bags in buckets with “Hot Hands” warmers that are just big O2 absorbers. I also add diatomaceous earth (food grade) to kill any bugs that might survive and hatch. If you do not go the extra mile in prepping you can’t count on the food being good.
I manage a grain elevator. For prolonged corn storage keep it cool and make sure the corn moisture is 15.5 and below the dryer the better. If you think weevil or bugs are a problem there is a product that is called dicon it will prevent them from reproducing.
This is very helpful. It's in my plan for the end of Summer to stock up on a lot of grain. That'd be organic wheat and Oates here in Ireland. If I am successful in purchasing enough it will be stored in the original bags in a cool, dark, rodent proof environment but that is just the first step. I have other plans for storing it long term, similar to what those folks have done there. Great to see the new content. Sincerely hope that the family are well. Keep the flag of freedom flying 🇺🇸❤️🇮🇪
Good stuff Brother! I was just shocked that as a Marine you did not have some buckets of crayon rations, even the dollar store ones work, not everybody has money to stock up on Crayola brand....
my father was a ww2 marine we were in a local tavern on afternoon sitting next to a gentleman who claimed to be a green beret was endlessly bragging about all the training he had received when he stopped for a few seconds my father looked at him directly in the eye and said "damn son a little more training and you could have been a marine" funniest thing i had ever heard my dad say.
I definitely wouldn’t say that it’s boring. I was honestly glued to the screen wondering what it would look like. I have only stored 300lbs of corn successfully for 6 months before. Great job to the packers!!!
Know the saying, don't keep all your eggs in one basket? Don't keep all your preps in one drum. Keep rations in servings, air tight, in bags with air & moisture absorber packets, then for extra protection put in plastic or glass then barrels with something to deter bugs, rust, ect..
O2 exorbers. Expensive, don't work well enough to ensure no larvae servive. The trick to storing whole granes in drums long term, is using argon gas! you problem even already have a bottle. It's a safe inert gas like co2 just heavier. It's in the air and your breathing now. You fill the drum from the bottom up.

Good info!
I personally would have double or triple bagged it, but it looks real good.

Thanks for the information!

Not a boring video because it proves that what we are doing actual works. Nothing boring about that!

Good work. Think you might be in good shape. Tim
This is a great informative video. It shows that putting back corn shouldnt be a issue for long term storage. Bless you Brother. Shalom
Thank you sir!
GREAT JOB BROTHER
A full 55 gallon drum holds about 300 LBS.
Thank you!
Love the shirt.

I love corn
Interested to see how this went! I've seen explosions.
Congratulations 👏
Good to know, thank you.
And how is Bo Derek keeping ?
good to know stuff
When did you start that?
@@TheRevoltingMan I meant this stuff is good to know. I know nothing. ;)
Lol.
Have to ask, how are the spuds doing ? ,don't keep me in suspenders lol
They did good. Let me find the video I was talking to you about them.
Of course this makes me wonder how the ancient Egyptians did it... without plastic or oxygen absorbers.
They did it because of Bone dry desert conditions.....it doesn't get any better.
@@Tom-qx5nl yes, but extreme temp fluctuations between night and day, and rats? Nothing new under the sun. 😉
MOONSHINE is in someones future
The best feed for chickens has live weevils anyway
I have a grain grading license. look at it under black light, if it glowa let it go
what makes it glow?

Wow . My comment was instantly removed. It was the truth about corn
All you need is to nixtamalize it...
No . Should not have to.
I’m not sure why. It wasn’t on my end.
YT is screwing with conservative channels, it happens sometimes.
@@TheRevoltingMan 😂😂😂we know where you are at all times 😯😯😯😯 bawwwww
Well NOW you're going to have to pour out all that corn and rebag it since you destroyed the integrity of the plastic ......
They’ll start using that barrel now.
Boring my ass, this is a great video! Showing people who are new to the lifestyle it can be done with a minimum investment.
