Reading the book eruption right now lukather explaining how Ed wrote this and told him how to tune his guitar and learned Ed’s parts then Ed played bass on it…these guys are phenomenal will be remembered forever
JojoaO, Thanks for sharing.... My favorite musicians on one album: Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro Eddie van Halen, RIchard Marx, Carlos Vega, Lenny Castro, Will Lee, David Paich, Leland Sklar, Neil Stubenhaus, Michael Landau, Randy Jackson .... to name a view. Love it. Yeah.. why not in Spotify??
@@yourinnervoiceyourinnervoi8552 Yes! When it first started I was like, "hmm I know this song" but never knew Lukather even had a solo album. Wasn't until the main riff kicked in I twigged the 5150 sessions. Always loved that half-a-song. Glad to know he did something with it, although I do prefer the original lyrics. 😁
Touring before this was released, he joked (I think it was a joke 🤣) that the album was going to be called...” I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine”). If you don’t get it right away, just sit for a second and remember his raunchy but hilarious sense of humor.😂
I actually prefer Lukather's version, but it's unfair to compare a demo to a fully produced take. Anyway, listening to VH's demo, it's clear that 90 percent of the song had been composed by EVH when he proposed it to Lukather. He just added his playing style, production ideas and changed a few things here and there.
Scott Yecora I have heard the SNL version, the original demo and this. One thing the other two lack is Alex. The power and aggression he adds is ridiculous. Luke’s tone isn’t as ballsy for me but I love his solo. Ed is the king IMHO, but I still listen to this and smile at what could have been on 5150.
John Westcott Alex is a great drummer but so was Carlos Vega - Carlos played on hundreds of albums and many hit albums . I like both versions . Happy Eddie brought it to his good buddy Luke and them playing together is awesome . Steve would have been a great fit for Van Halen . Eddie and luke need to do a album before they pass on in life!
Eddie wrote most of this, but it was rejected by VH (check the VH "I want some action" here on YT), so he proposed it to his friend Lukather when he asked him to participate to his solo album.
EVH proposed the song to his friend Lukather and played bass on Lukather's version, because his record company forbid him to play guitar on the record of someone signed to another company...
Is al on drums ? I heard the 1,2,3,4 right before the song officially starts..... vh brothers go on 4 not 3.... Wolfgang had made a comment about that before

Van halen & Richard Marx are just names TOTO would of made it sound way better & van halen rip off of this is ludicrous crap.....Twistin Mah Life Ah Wee
Eddie wrote the song but it didnt make the cut for the 5150 album so he basically gave it to Lukeather and helped him develop it for his solo album, how is that Van halen ripping this song off when he wrote it??

That’s how I got here! 🤘😎🎸
Killer tune ❤
I'm on that book right now.
Me 4😂😊
Me 5
Great tune. It's got Eddie's DNA running right through it.
Shame this wasn’t polished up and released on the 5150 album with the VH boys, awesome riff 👍🏻
Steve , Eddie and Richard Marx on back vocals.......Yea :-)
That's Eddie Van Halen on bass :)
LUKE & ED... Unbeatable combo
I'd say the Lukather pairing with Jeff Beck was as good if not better.
Luke and Steve Stevens also
Eddie is slappin the bass!!
Eddie wrote the riff. It was a throwaway from 5150.
I came here after reading a comment on the “I Want Some Action” unreleased Van Halen video… Nice!
Me too🤭
Lukather & Eddie Van Halen... Producers, Bass, Guitars... etc...

You should listen to this song at full volume only.....that intro is a monster.

the guitars on this are superb, like Luke says, "fat organic tone" LOL!
Damn, before reading the comments I actually was thinking this sounds like a 5150 song, Ed's playing and music were really particular!!!
Eddie Van Halen recorded this with Steve Lukather. :)
ruclips.net/video/kQMHhlWvmz0/видео.html
apparently Eddie was pretty good
Was originally a song for 5150 called I Want Some Action but never could quite put it all together. You can hear the demo on RUclips

Love this song , cross between LUKE and VanHalen.
Ed played this riff with GE Smith on SNL … called it Stompin
One of Luke's great , whole album, my goto when have shits with the mrs.
What is shits with the mrs. Sorry.
Still rocking in 2020 🤟🤟🤟
Eddie Van Halen på bas = klassiker......Luke i sittt essse......snyggt & legendariskt solo-album....
Carlos Vega on drums. Nothing much to say. Jeff smiling from above.

It’s not as good as the VH demo (loses some energy and edge) but still good. Luke has a great, manly, powerful voice. He should sing for VH.

@@mariomessina1147 well, that didn’t happen.
This song is lame compared to the Van Halen version!
Smokin'!
this song kicks it
Eddie wrote this?
Both wrote this... ;)
Eddie wrote most of this, but it was rejected by VH (check the VH "I want some action" here on YT), so he proposed it to his friend Lukather when he asked him to participate to his solo album.
Almost the same as the 5150 left over song "I Want Some Action".
EVH proposed the song to his friend Lukather and played bass on Lukather's version, because his record company forbid him to play guitar on the record of someone signed to another company...
Omg the goats 100%
whats the cdonnection with this and the vcan halen tune,,,same intro
The song missed the cut for 5150 so Eddie re-recorded it with his friend Steve Lukather and let him put it on his album.
BASS:Eddie Van Halen
Luke - King again.......
Eddy v H on base.... and Richard Marx on background. Vocals.....o dear....this is great !
Don't judge me on my appearance or my behavior. And don't worry about where I'm from either.
I just verified that connection on RUclips
Is al on drums ? I heard the 1,2,3,4 right before the song officially starts..... vh brothers go on 4 not 3.... Wolfgang had made a comment about that before
Yeah all they did in the studio was have Steve and Eddie do some overdubs onto the original instrumental track.
Ryan Eriksson That does not sound like Al at all to me.
Carlos Vega on drums
4:43 Is that Bobby kimball?
+Steve Fox Probably Richard Marx or Tom Kelly, unless Bobby Kimball was uncredited on the album!
Maybe Warren Ham ;)
Warren Ham
It's Warren Ham that screams.
Good Cannibal Corpse cover
Xd

bass guitar is the best thing on this song just because of eddie
This is where Steve got the song from
ruclips.net/video/kQMHhlWvmz0/видео.html
sham kamikaze bring me here .. bass by halen
When you compare it to I Want Action, it really loses something without Alex's drums.
Jwestcott5000 Carlos Vega was a monster drummer!
Van Halen's guitar playing has way more balls too.
Sammy version 128% better.
😂
Man, this sure is dull compared to Van Halen's early demo version with Hagar.
LOL van Halen plays .... that s why its dull???
Bag nabbitslash does not belong on the same stage as Steve Lucas.
Van halen & Richard Marx are just names TOTO would of made it sound way better & van halen rip off of this is ludicrous crap.....Twistin Mah Life Ah Wee
Van Halen rip off?
Eddie wrote the song but it didnt make the cut for the 5150 album so he basically gave it to Lukeather and helped him develop it for his solo album, how is that Van halen ripping this song off when he wrote it??
Eddie on bass, freaking awesome. Thats Carlos Vega on drums, not Al.
Ed can teach you how to play it, but without Ed’s feel this groove looses a little something.
