As a programmer, I've found sleep to be key to difficult debugging problems. I can code and even design software when I'm tired, but when I'm stuck on a difficult bug I seldom solve it when I'm tired. Many times after struggling for hours, I've gone to bed and nearly every time I sit down to face it in the morning, I solve it within 5 minutes. I'm convinced that during sleep I'm ruling out all the impossible causes of the bug such that the relevant information becomes obvious.
Melinda Green when i was younger i played piano. would study a piece of music for hours but only kind of play it. however, after sleeping i can play the piece almost perfect. sleep is amazing
@@matthewcorwin356 Mathew yes! I to like before sleep i would only screw my wife you know like kinda good but after sleep i fucks REAL GOOD!
God bless sleep is fucking amazing!
I've had this experience when working in the software industry too and when studying mathematics in school, both cerebral fields but I'm sure I've had the experience with emotional or creative issues too.
I don't tend to sleep well with emotional problems
Fascinating conversation but again inadequate volume of sound.
Damnit 2015! Turn the volume up.
Always love to hear Stickgold speak.
Thank you, it was important for me to hear this from a scientist!
Professor Stickgold slept his way to the top of his field.
Haha, dreamed his way 😅
Some scientists claim we are close to solving all the mysteries of the universe, yet we don't fully understand the sleep state in which we spend a third of our lives.
I'd like to know how sleep affects mental health/brain health
Why something rather than nothing? No! Why is there almost no sound volume rather than a adequate one?
Part of the journey that brings us closer .... to truth.
Thank you.
