  • Halo pulls from a variety of religious stories in order to craft its narrative. This video is an exploration of just how deep the religious roots of Halo run.

As a man of theology myself, I remember playing the Halo trilogy for the first time and thinking to myself "hmm, the Covenant, the Flood, the Ark, why does this seem so familiar?
    Oh yeah right."

"Soon the Great Journey shall begin. But when it does, the weight of your heresy will stay your feet. And you shall be left behind."

Great video, thanks for making it.
Had a thought while watching it; the Arbiter could also be thought as somewhat akin to Paul the Apostle. He went from persecuting Christians (Humans) to becoming a follower of Christ (master Chief)

Excellent video. I checked your catalogue after watching your last AI New Vegas video, saw this video title, and instantly knew you are on the wavelength

Goes further into lore and aspect of the Good Book about the reason why the Flood is both Sin and Son manifest and why Forerunners went into civil war on regards to why humanity was granted Reclaimer status. Writing the Halo trilogy was super interesting while being bonked out on booze appropriate on the time periods.

amazing video, but your point about the Flood is wrong. the Flood is the literal wrath of the Precursors, the god-beings who created the universe. this is what the “monument to all your sins” line from the gravemind means, who himself is the remnant of the personality of the Primordial, the head precursor and the creator of all sentient life in the Milky Way galaxy. there is a LOT more to this and I would be more than happy to discuss it and it’s implications for the halo universe

Yes, a monument to all your sins, much like The Flood from the Bible. I will agree to disagree on that one. Also, you'll be hard-pressed to call liberal interpretation "wrong", even if you disagree.
That being said, I'd be interested to see you do a similar video and compare our ideas. Would be fun to watch

@@drakefs_ I’m just stating literal facts from the lore, but this definitely one of the things I’ve always wanted to make a video essay about once I get a better computer and I’m glad someone else is talking about the topic

@@deathbyignoranceYT I understand, but I designed this essay exclusively for the original Halo Trilogy. One might find new interpretations based upon expanded lore, but I still see the interpretation as a solid analogy based on the original trilogy.
I'm not much of a lore nerd for any one product.
Likewise, I don't see how that lore changes the analogy. All you said was "you're wrong" and threw out some lore, but you didn't provide a new interpretation
The Gravemind is a pretty obvious analogy to Satan, and the Flood are an ironic corruption of the Flood narrative. Adding that they are related to the God-Beings in many ways reinforces the "ironic corruption" arguments by being an image and creation of God, much as Satan is.
Anyways, if you want to continue a conversation on it, you can find the community Discord link in my About Me section

@@drakefs_ yeah I apologize for coming off the wrong way, I don’t entirely disagree with your analysis and the lore DOES prop it up, I just wanted to bring it to light to be able to add more context to the whole religiosity to the halo story and how literal it actually is, I’d love to come on your discord to discuss it and maybe help with a follow up because this is something I’m very passionate about, both theology and halo. again I didn’t mean to be negative I’m just passionate about the subject
