I would give that accolade to the love duet from Tristan... but little disagreement.... it is the same composer!...
Superb sound; superb conductor. Barenboim is my fave Wagner conductor. His brass section always elevates Wagner to greater heights.
Wonderful. This is one of my favourite Wagner operas. I'm looking forward to seeing it at Covent Garden at the end of April. The prelude is exquisite!

@@Nofurtherquestions I'm afraid it wasn't very good. Musically it was superb but the production was dire - the modern dress didn't work for me at all. Nobody in the audience was wearing face coverings neither were any members of the orchestra.

Ma perché si ostinano ad attualizzare Wagner con costumi o scenografie improprie, senza una effettiva logica di accostamento al mondo wagneriano. Wagner non è Verdi! O lo ambienti nel mondo mitizzato del suo immaginario o lo stravolgi totalmente, ambientato in un mondo futuristico o fantasy.

There are overplaying facial expressions, it's quite annoying to see.
But nice listening!

aside from this great piece of music, not the best recording.
I just watched the entire opera. Mixed feelings. The staging is so odd with the psychosomatic scratching and twitching. Kaufmann, however, is worth the price of watching - brilliant voice and colors (just listen to his phrasing on the word, “taube,” at the end). Dasch was good, nothing more. Herlizius, my God, she does scream a lot! The Telramund was awful. Pape and Lucic were luxury casting.
You are right. Music is great. Staging is foolish.

I don't know. I'm decidedly no music critic, even though I know some of the most beautiful music in the world is operatic. There just is nothing in Lohengrin to make me want to listen to its 3+ hours.

Grotesque and ridiculous mise en scène. Making the characters move and playing worse than clowns around is an insult to themselves and to Richard Wagner's music. No talent and no artistic taste for those in charge of the scenery. Wagner's glorious music can tolerate this villainous and disgraceful butchery of a great work of art. No complaints about the singers and performance. The got well paid to act as buffoons and for the sake of money they did their best.
