Selective Picking Etude & Lesson

Selective Picking simply means alternate picking with hammer ons from nowhere (HOFNW). I'm using a small piece of cardboard interlaced between my strings toward the bridge. This creates a fun inharmonic sound. Try adjusting it in different ways with different materials. It also makes it very easy to begin developing left-hand strength without having to worry about muting. The stronger our left hand is, the more freedom our right hand has to try different techniques.
