  • Selective Picking simply means alternate picking with hammer ons from nowhere (HOFNW). I'm using a small piece of cardboard interlaced between my strings toward the bridge. This creates a fun inharmonic sound. Try adjusting it in different ways with different materials. It also makes it very easy to begin developing left-hand strength without having to worry about muting. The stronger our left hand is, the more freedom our right hand has to try different techniques. Eventually, you'll want to try it without cardboard and work on the muting. Get the tab and guitar pro files for a few bucks in bio and check out my patreon for a video lesson on this. Using my Kiesel guitars A2 and Positive Grid Spark Mini.

That's the same selective picking pattern that I used on my very first song using that technique! This is a great way to start selective picking
