When I shoot street photography, I use an 800mm lens so I don't have to leave the house.

I use a 135mm f2 manual lens. Very unorthodox for street photography but I personally love the results.
I used to really enjoy using a 135mm when I first got into street photography! Should try it again, haven't used one for a while
After around 15years with different camera brands, models, lenses my edc setup is the A7III with Sigma MC-11 and the Canon 70-300mm II. Has it's pros and cons but it's perfect for capturing situations without any interruption.
Great video TK. I really appreciate how you speak to things like looking subtle, getting up in people’s faces and people avoiding your frame. Something you mentioned in another video really helped me a lot which was that nobody cares if you’re out there taking photos. I took on a lot of your advice, gained confidence and recently took a lot of street photography in South Korea with these tips in mind. Thank you again! And loved the podcast with Pat Kay!
Love this style of street photography where the focus is capturing the feel of the environment where people are the secondary focus to add interest and scale. The other type should be called street portraits.
Newer to photography. I wish I could have the compression of a long focal length lens with the composition of a shorter focal length lens. But I love the look of compressed images right now.

For me, 50mm lens is tele lens in my street photography.
I love love the so called compression shots that imbues depth into the image. Before I start photography my hobby is mostly drawing and in that medium leaving unnecessary details outside the frame, while filling in what's in the composition with details that has depth is an effective thought process (illustrations can easily look flat after all).
For street photography especially, getting candid photos is just way easier with a telephoto lens without the headache of doing magic tricks and stunts to get unnoticed up close. If you're specifically looking for that natural expression in people, long focal length definitely should be a consideration.

I love telephoto lenses for street. I use my TTArtisan 100mm f2.8 m42 lens a lot for street and it’s awesome. Saul Leiter also was a big fan of telephoto lenses for street.

Longer lens just give a different field of view. Aint better or lesser. I love it, except for the looks.
