  • How to ride wallrides and big berms - 3 skills tips for wallrides! Big wooden features and wooden berms or wallrides can be very challenging - especially mentally. But these 3 mtb skills tips will make them much easier!
    Points to remember:
    1. They are "just" berms
    2. Scan ahead and focus on the line you want to ride
    3. Work your way up - choose a berm that has a mellow entry and edge at the bottom, so you can start slow (at the bottom) and then work your way up (literally)
    4. Avoid braking on the feature - especially when wet!!
    5. Have fun and trust your gut.

Big wooden features and wooden berms or wallrides can be very challenging - especially mentally. But these 3 mtb skills tips will make them much easier!
Also, I have 5 more points to remember:
    1. I know they can look intimidating, but know: They are "just" berms
    2. Scan ahead and focus on the line you want to ride
    3. Work your way up - choose a berm that has a mellow entry and a smooth edge at the bottom, so you can start slow (at the bottom) and then work your way up (literally)
    4. Avoid braking on the feature - especially when wet!!
    5. Have fun and trust your gut.

How about your weight? Do you weight the outside a little bit as you lean the bike into the arc or just don’t think about anything and just balance with level pedals and heavy feet?

I’ve never done one, except for walking into a wall in the dark, but I hope too try one.
