    What kind of watering schedule do potatoes usually prefer? Thanks for the video. Awesome!

      Potatoes need 1-2 inches of water a week. In spring they may get an abundance of water through rain. Late potatoes especially will need a good soaking if it has not rained. So plan on watering them weekly in summer. Thanks for watching.

      Deborah if you go to USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map you can put in your zip code and it will tell you your zone!

    Do you not worry about frost planting in march or april in zone 6?

    • @foxruneec
      @foxruneec  6 месяцев назад +1

      No, but that doesnt mean I dont take precautions. So I am mulching with straw and can pile that on if temps are going below 28. Potatoes can take a light frost. One particular April we had several inches of late snow and I mulched with straw and then covered with garden fabric. They were fine. If frost kills a few leaves they will grow back - you dont need to replant. Also - I will say I'm comfortable with taking risks in the garden!

    how big of grow bag would you use?

      @foxruneec  Год назад +2

      Great question Bobcatina! Check out our community page for a graphic of grow bag sizes. A 7 gallon would do for 3 potatoes and you could also bump up to 10 gallons and add another potato.

      I use 20 gallon and 30 gallon grow bags. Smaller ones dry out to fast in summer months

      @@robert4027 Good point Robert the smaller bags do dry out quicker!

    Excellent source of antioxidants in the skin of the potato this is another reason to eat the skin. Only if home grown. Store bought potatoes I won't eat the skin

      Homegrown and Organic! Often in commercial agriculture vegetables that are grown using chemicals applied to the plant or soil have chemical concentrate in the skins.

    I have lived in the coty for much of my life., I finally moved to Kentucky and planted potatoes last year. While I don't worry about pesticides, the FLAVOR almost knocked me out. I only planted potatoes last year as a test to see growth potential and this year I intend to plant my entire yard. Grow Food Not Grass!

      As I have limited space I intend to try the 3-sisters combo. Have you tried this yet with the three growing with each other?@@foxruneec
