SEE! I do finish cars (just not mine!)
One of my customers kindly allowed me to film the underneath and around his Rolex (not)Blue TVR Chimaera, and share it with the group. You'll probably have seen the body in the background slowly moving around the workshop in other videos! Well, it's back together and by the time you've read this, it'll have gone home with him!

Just picked up a Chim, bought it from a mate who has owned it since 2001, L reg Cooper Green, it’s old and needs love, but it’s brilliant. The other cars its nemesis….a 3.2S Boxster 😂

Had my out riggers done a few years a go I waxoyl mine every 3 years love my chimaera had it for 12 years ❤️
Just make sure the rest of it is OK, as the outriggers are only half the story.

That's such a beautiful car... And really like your explanations for us non mechanics. I'd love to have one of these but they obviously need a helleva lot of work and maintenance. Would you say it's the best roaster ever made?
They're really not that difficult to look after! The only thing is that it's vital to have someone (either a garage like me, or yourself as an owner) maintain it as you can spot when something's going to cause a problem before it actually happens. They're actually nothing like as expensive to run as most people assume.
Best roadster ever made? I don't think I could argue the case for any car as it's such a subjective thing, but the Chimaera's definitely up there for me, along with the Frogeye Sprite and MX-5.

Message to Bugatti fans: please note that it's pronounced 'Kye-meera', not 'Shy-meera'. Likewise, the Bugatti Chiron (named after the Greek mythological hero) is pronounced 'Kye-ron', not 'Sheer-on'.
'C' in Greek has a hard 'K' sound: charisma; choir; chorus; chemistry; chiropractor; Charon the Ferryman; Chiron the centaur.

Here's a question, when people restore TVR's do some people galvanize the chassis instead of powder coating them again?
Dip-galvanising is a risky business as some people have (apparently) had the chassis distort due to the heat. You also have to drill holes all over it. When I have the chassis' done, I have them spray-galvanised, which is zero-risk (just costs a bit more) and then 2k painted. The cheapest way is just to powder coat them again, and surprise-surprise, they don't last very long!

It was part of a range of buyers guides by Veloce called "The Essential Buyer's Guide (and then in my case, TVR Chimaera/Griffith. It has a Griffith on the front)
I Googled it the other day and they're still out there, though in much lower numbers than the S-Series version.

I know what you mean, there is a slightly gammony-element to some corners of the ownership base. You get that with all cars, admittedly, and there are also some lovely, lovely people in the TVR community.
