      You and me both. If I was offered a job in SE AK I'd be packing tomorrow. Retirement is in my sites and that's another option, either way I will go back one day.

      Alaska is an unforgettable, unforgiving place. If I had it to do over and had my choice of places to live. Alaska’s coast would be it

    200lb male black bear at 11:35. IMHO. Could be slightly larger..... Definitely agree. The bears swim to smaller islands. I've experienced the same

      They go where the food is, highly adaptable and highly intelligent animals.

    Nice zoom on the loon. Enjoying your trip, relaxing watching you relax.

      Thanks. That close up on the loon was the newer 4K camera, I have some bear footage coming up in later videos with that same close up.

    What kayak is being used? Thanks . Awesome adventure.

      It's a 30 year old Necky Tesla. I modified it a lot over the years and I've grown use to it. More important is it has the ability to hold enough gear and supplies for weeks of remote camping.

      There's a ton of these types of videos on YT so these don't get promoted very often. I get a lot more hits on the first trip I did in 2013 and I thought those videos were done poorly.

    Awesome Bear sighting. I was thinking the same thing right before you said he was flipping 50lb rocks like potato chips. And then I noticed we were spotted! Interesting that he didn't run off, since that's what most people say. They usually can't get a shot of bears because as soon as they get close enough, they say it runs off. But it's awesome you got a good shot. This was definitely one of my favorite parts in this series of vids. I'll patiently wait for the next one. :)

      That one knew I was there when I was 300+ yards away, but he didn't run away or change behavior. It makes me think that one has encountered humans before. Other ones just ran as soon as they saw me. I get into the thick of the bears a couple days afterwards.

    Wow a lot of animal encounters on this trip.

    • @toddswitzer6799
      @toddswitzer6799  7 лет назад

      Yes, not a wide variety of animals in Alaska but lots of them. The only animal I didn't see and film was wolf, but I scare up a whole pack in a few more days and they howl at me for 15 minutes as they run away into the forest.

    You'd be the winner on that "alone" show on the history channel

      Thanks. The casting director contacted me, but I don't have much interest in doing those "reality" shows. I like to go out there on my own schedule.

    Just curious, why don't you carry a firearm? Like a short 12ga. I keep worrying about a bear coming in and you don't appear to even carry bear spray. Obviously, you know what you are doing. I just keep seeing a big old grizzly wondering up to your camp...

      POW Island has no Griz only Black bear and the locals don't carry guns for bears on that island. The mainland would be a different story.
