I think prioritizing countries based on pure travel; extended stay (2-4 months) and a third scenario regarding staying for long-term retirement would be 3 good categories that each can be divided-, so I believe the sub-categories would be different for eachof the three groups. You could set 2 levels, maybe a $30 or 40k? annual USD budget and another up to $75k or ?? Something not too high... Maybe ask your viewers. People living on $100K USD plus retirement can figure it out their own budget...

This is a fantastic video! I've been to 80-something countries (exact number depends on whether you count Taiwan, Kosovo, etc...), and I get this question all the time. My answer is usually that it depends on what day you ask me. But your categorization approach is much better, and actually does a reasonable job of answering the question without having to commit to a single place. My current all-around-favorite spot is Bali. While there are other places that easily beat Bali in a single category, Bali just does everything well, and there isn't anything that it does poorly. So Bali is tops for me. I'm also a huge fan of both Buenos Aires and Rio, at least when the exchange rates are in my favor! And you've given me a couple new spots to check out - Bansko and Osa Peninsula here I come.
Glad to know you enjoyed the video Marc and thanks for sharing your insights as well. Bali is a great pick too! Love the place. Have fun checking out new places Marc! 😊
After 18 years and over 50 countries later, Argentina is still my number one fav! Good food, diverse landscapes, and by far the most friendly and outgoing people!
Thank you for remembering the Croatian sea. A lot of tourists say they have never seen such a blue and clean sea, indeed the Adriatic Sea is like a big swimming pool, but with over a thousand islands!🙂
What a luscious video. Such rich information… AND footage! So many more places to put on my list of dreams. I had briefly forgotten about the Amalfi coast in Italy and Cuba. Also, and nice mix of cities versus more relaxed and natural spaces. You put so much thought, hard work, creativity and personal experience in your videos, and it shows.
Oh wow, as a Bulgarian, I'd never have thought that I'd see Bulgaria, especially a winter resort like Bansko on a list like this. Guess I should visit with a new perspective this upcoming season. :)
Bansko is very popular with digital nomads because of the wonderful community built by Coworking Bansko, and also because of the gorgeous mountains and the low cost of living. Many nomads go there in winter to ski after work, but it's also full of nomads in summer, when the hiking crowd descends on the Pirin Mountains. I spent a summer there and can't wait to do it again next year.

@@TravelingwithKristin The most honest answer is that there are no easy answers to favourite locations once you start travelling.. Most places have great aspects and the way you perceive it could be influenced by tons of factors like who did you run into, did you miss the train, which news did you get from home etc... But still some clearly stand out :)
Just hit that number in my early 30's where we can travel 24/7. Just finished up with UAE in their last winter, places like the Ritz Carlton (upgraded to the exec levels) blew my mind for luxury. Heading of to Singapore, then Malaysia and the rest of SEA next. Can't wait! Your videos are great, thanks for the information! Hi Kristin! I am also intrigued by the history of Europe, WW1, WW2, and the inter-war period - when my parents were born in Lithuania. Basically, if WW2 did not happen my siblings and I would not exist, because our parents would have never met in Montréal - as they did in 1949. They were born and grew up in opposite corners of Lithuania - my mother in the northeast, not far from the Latvian border; my father’s village in southwestern Lithuania was adjacent to the border of Poland. Both escaped from Lithuania just in time in 1944, with the retreat of Nazi Germany and the re-advance of Soviet Russia. My father would end-up in a DP (Displaced Persons) camp in the American Zone near München, while my mother would end up in a DP camp in the British Zone near Hamburg. My ‘bucket list’ historical exploration in Germany includes reliving the respective journeys of my parents, from their home villages in their native Lithuania to their DP camp destinations in Allied-occupied Germany. Of course, their respective DP camps no longer exist, but I still want to explore both localities.
@@TravelingwithKristin Thanks Kristin! The great news is that I have connected with and have become close to all my first cousins (and their families) in Lithuania during these last 30 years. We all knew about each other during Soviet times, but we would not meet until the early 1990s. The sad news is that that my parents and their siblings in Lithuania and Canada have all passed away in recent time. In short, our family elders are all gone now; there is no one left to help us to 'connect all the dots' with our family histories. Key learning: Ask questions now - while family elders are still with us, and document / record the rich family histories that elders can share with us.
Just discovered your channel through your comments on Sorelle Amore's finance channel. After watching 3 of your videos, I had to subscribe. This video was the pivot point. You offer experiential content with balanced critical commentary. I am much older than you, and quite envious - and also grateful - for the opportunities for remote work and creative monetization through RUclips. As a low-income retiree, who wants to travel and live abroad to experience other cultures, I really appreciated your thoughtful, experience-based assessments. The one thing I find absent on most channels like yours is the evaluation of living outside the major cities. I realize the "data" are mostly from major cities, I wast to travel/live in more remote, rural areas, so looking for content that addresses that. Anyway, thank you for what you are offering and best wishes.
Thanks for subbing Susan! Welcome aboard my channel 😊Glad to know you liked my content. It's my pleasure to share valuable info and insights for my audience. I appreciate your kind words. 🙏😊
I lived in Germany for over a year, and I've been to Dachau (which is now a tourist attraction). I think if you really want to know about WWII, you should visit Russia. After all, the largest battles of WWII (Stalingrad, Kursk, Bagration) occurred in the Soviet Union.
Portugal is missing in the best places to eat?!!! The best Mediterranean cuisine, due to its diversity and quality, from fish, seafood, meat, cheeses, wines, a world of delicious snacks, a world of wonderfull food that i couldn't anywhere else in the world! About the most beautiful natural places in the world... the fantastic Azores in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!! The best thing about traveling is that we discovered that there is always a great world to discover!
You are right! Thanks for sharing your picks Luís! I did a video on when I was living in Portugal, if you want to check it out here: ruclips.net/video/LfdY_11470w/видео.html
I would like to visit Portugal.I’m guessing that I would like all the fish, fruits and vegetables from Portugal. I judge quality of food on fish, fruits and veggies.
Did you visit Hiroshima while in Japan? As you described your emotional experience in Germany, it made me think of standing at the a-bomb memorial-- the shell of a building at the center of the blast. The enormity and immediacy of that loss, incurred at the hands of my own country, made me teary and sick at once. It's so beautiful and peaceful now, but among all the photos my Japanese friends took of me while traveling the country, that's the only in which I couldn't smile :p Great video, thanks!
Hi Brian, Yes I was there. It was indeed an emotional experience. Thanks for sharing your insights and experiences as well---appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😊🙏
Thank you ladies for these beautiful videos, I live in Kosovo in Europe, I would very much like to go with you on vacation and visits to other countries. I would do my best to meet you, and to be your boyfriend. Thank you thank you for this pleasure
damn i remember watching some tour of today hiroshima and i couldn't hold back the tears when they show a primary school where you know that none of the children here make it out alive.
Love you're insight on these places. Everyone's experience in a place is different but I'm a little surprised that New Zealand didn't make it on your list for any number of categories.
@@TravelingwithKristin well you have a wonderful experience still ahead of you, as I'm sure you'll get there one day. Love your channel, your information, and your opinions.
@@TravelingwithKristin hi I’m late to this but yes I was surprised that nz wasn’t on the list for lots of the category’s. I hope you do come over here one day. South Island is the most stunning and fun of the two islands, but the whole country is beautiful. 😊
It''s hard to choose one country because every country has different qualities. For food, I'd say any country in the former Yugoslavia. For beauty, Peru. For friendliness, the Philippines. And for hospitality, I'd say Pakistan.
@@TravelingwithKristin Call em as I see em. Just found you and starting to get into all of your travels. What a fantastic life, and wonderful job. Thanks for bringing us along.
Hey Kristen, As an expat living in Southeast Asia, who has spent 35 years traveling, I really appreciate your videos and your honesty. One thing you left out, is the crime rate. Brazil, the Caribbean and Manila have “massive crime problems. You yourself, when you lived in Costa Rica, had home invasions & constant car break-ins. I would never live in a place like that myself. In my personal experience traveling around the world Bangkok is the safest large city I’ve ever lived in. Everyone has their own take on things.
Out of 139 countries Manila is no. 86 in crime index by country 2022 mid year. Haha...in manila there was no mass shooting compare to your country and other places.
@@TravelingwithKristin I do! He's in Ukraine now, my native country, which I left 20 years ago, so watching his videos is fascinating! And I love your channel too! You are so inspirational! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience and insights!
Lived in Peru for five years and I'd argue it's wayyy overrated. Then again it's also true that actually living in a place (and working, paying taxes, having kids and sending them to school, renting actual apartments and not just Airbnbs, dealing with trash pickup or lack of, and electricity/water or lack of, safety and security or lack of, etc) is very different than backpacking or traveling through a place as a tourist. But the food is amazing so that part of the hype is correct.
This is fantastic Kristin. We're gonna start doing more international travel and this is a fabulous starting point! Also, that must have been an amazing pomegranate!
I have not been to many of the places, but I have to agree that Vancouver is a great city (albeit pricey). I love the parks, sky train, and buildings. And there is so much good food. I also enjoyed Costa Rica. I've seen so many awesome animals and plants there. There are so many great places in the world.
Have you surfed in Fuerteventura Canary Islands? There’s a huge surfing community there. And most recent trip was there - the Canary Islands of Spain were my favorite destination so far - adventure, good food, quality of life, nature, blue ass water, friendly locals. each island was so different too. It’s hard to put into words.
Vancouver and Canada again prominently displayed as a Quality of Life choice. Excellent. Romance, Amalfi MAY be cliche but it is for a reason. It is an amazing place. I would return in a heartbeat. Funny that Paris wasn't included for Romance. The food, the wine, the history, the sites! Stanley Tucci would agree about Italy for food. A pomegranate changed your life? Hmmmm.... WWII, Normandy France is moving and remarkable. Some great suggestions here. More to add to the list.
About friendly Nicaraguans. My sister married and divorced a Nicaraguan, but still friends with her ex-in-laws. I got to meet them the last time I traveled to Puerto Rico where they now reside and I have to say that I could read their aura right away as some of the friendliest and humblest people I have met. I never met them before and now I'm looking forward to go back and meet them again.
Kristin: Hooray! (Fist pump) Vancouver is my home town. I still live with Mom and Dad and my childhood friend, Gizelle, lives with us as a university student at the same campus as myself(UBC). In our neighborhood is famous Canadian singer songwriter, Sarah McLachlan ("Surfacing" album) and "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson, because her daughter is Vancouver born while she was filming the series here. Arnold Schwarzenegger, is here too, but I haven't seen him at the local supermarket yet. My favourite place outside of Canada would be my pre-pandemic trip to the Island of Capri off Italy's coast. Coming in a close second would be Shenzhen, China...because it is so incredibly safe and totally crime free and rent is sort of cheap. Always looking out for your episodes when they get posted. Much love ♥️ Diane, Vancouver, Canada. SnOC17/21 07:03 pm
Thanks Diane! Glad you liked it and thank you for the extra tips! I love the UBC area - so peaceful and scenic. I wasn’t able to go to Capri because it was so crowded but would love to check it out ☀️
@@TravelingwithKristin Ha-ha. Yeah...Capri is sort of like Honolulu. Interesting you should mention avoiding Capri because of its overcrowding. There's a paradox to all this. I read in a Frommers Guide to Hawaii before going there with Mom and Dad, when Arthur Frommer wrote "...people tell me, 'nobody goes to Waikiki anymore because it's too crowded'." By the way, Arthur Frommer is still doing his thing today at 92 yr old! That's what travelling does to you, I think. It makes you live longer and staying healthy while at it. If you ever go, my parents preferred to eat at the Ristorante Panorama. The view from its patio is as the name implies, but the portions of food...for me...is agonizingly small in an anorexic kind of way. When I am off on my own I prefer the larger portions of Ristorante Pizzeria Lo Zodiaco. Equally stunning views with a generously sized bowl of their Gnocchi Alla Sorrentina in front of me to stuff my face with. In Honolulu, we stayed at the 120 yr old Moana Surfrider(pronounced "Moe-Anna") on Kalakaua Avenue(pronounced by the locals as "Ka-Lah-Cow-Whah")and ate next door at the all-you-can-eat super buffet of the Sheraton Waikiki's Ocean Terrace Restaurant. Pay one price and me and my best female friend, Gizelle, ate until we couldn't walk! There was this one young couple who refilled five times until they just stared at each other giggling while rubbing their oversized bellies...now that's the way to eat! Uh huh-uh huh.(reference to K.C. and the Sunshine Band. I am only 21 yr old...but discovered I have this thing for disco music from the 1970's)The price also includes unlimited ice cream squirted into cones. Three of the Moana Surfrider Hotel's famous guests were one, Samuel Clemens(pen name Mark Twain) whose literary works included The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Two, Joseph Conrad, who was a novelist/gun smuggler; famous for his novels Lord Jim, later made into a movie starring Peter O'Toole, and Heart of Darkness, which was made into the famous Vietnam War movie, Apocalypse Now.And three, Johann Strauss Jr., whose waltz compositions included "The Beautiful Blue Danube" and "Tales of the Vienna Woods." My great great grandfather also stayed there in his travels as a merchandise buyer for Sears and Roebuck of Chicago. The Moana Surfrider was constructed around a giant 200 yr old Banyen Tree. Every evening hundreds of birds, the descendants of generations and generations would perch on the Banyen branches and listen to a pianist play through classics, waltzes, and famous Broadway tunes as the hotel guests dined underneath its ancient canopy. If you go, book into the Diamond Wing or the Tower Wing. The Historic Wing or original 120 yr old front section of the Moana has lots of history, but it's antique toilets were not designed for modern waste and thus, frequently clogged. Maintenance will come over and unclog it with a plunger...then stand there and wait for you to tip them. At least once per day. So on our subsequent trips there to the historic wing, I'd buy a cheap $3.50 toilet plunger from Wal-Mart in Canada, then use it at least once per day while there. I'd just leave it next to the toilet as a donation to the hotel when we checked out. Whoops! I'd gone on yapping too long! It's just that I enjoy connecting to you so much that I forget I am rambling along about the need to pack a new toilet plunger (disassemble rubber plunger from wood stick prior to oacking)for trips. Love your content and your style and just who you are. ♥️ Diane. Vancouver, Canada. SnOC17/21 09:52 pm

I've only been across the border to Mexico, a trip to Alberta, Canada as a kid, to Germany in the army, then before covid in 2019 to England and Italy. I haven't seen enough to advise anyone except maybe to not neglect the village off the beaten path. Intrigued with Corsica and Sardinia.
Hey Kristin, I have been enjoying your videos, just finished watching your costa rica video, and you did a good job of selling the place, it has caught my attention...I have been to London, northeast england, Paris, Germany, Belgium and Canada....Eastern Europe, particularly, Prague and Hungary, are of interest to me and Amsterdam, then Rome...If I could see those places, then I would be satisfied....I love Paris, but I know it's probably cheaper to live in Costa Rica than in Paris ...I also like Colombia, that place intrigues me...
Nice to meet you! That’s a good list of places to see. Costa Rica has been getting more expensive in recent years but Paris is more for the housing. Of course, their respective DP camps no longer exist, but I still want to explore both localities.
What a post! Thank you for sharing your story.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that Gediminas!
Your such a gift to the world. Thank you for sharing your experiences! Have an amazing weekend. Daniel
Thank you, so nice of you to say that. I appreciate it Daniel. You have a great weekend too! 😊
Love from Saigon Vietnam 🇻🇳
Didn’t realize you were a surfer. Do you have any shark stories? Great video!
I haven't traveled a lot. But I like Czechia for its history and proximity to other countries in Europe.
That's a great pick to Sunny. Thanks for sharing! 😊
Greece has the nicest people I felt
I lived in Germany for over a year, and I've been to Dachau (which is now a tourist attraction). I think if you really want to know about WWII, you should visit Russia. After all, the largest battles of WWII (Stalingrad, Kursk, Bagration) occurred in the Soviet Union.
Thanks for sharing, AK.
Thanks for selecting my hometown Roatán,Honduras it’s just an amazing place . Love your video’s.
No problem 😊 Glad you like it! Thanks for watching.

Wow you have really traveled. It's great to hear your first-hand experiences. Don't be afraid to share your personal stories; we like that.
Croatia is such an amazing place to learn to sail, plus the food and beautiful towns/historical areas
It’s so photogenic! And historic
Glad you mentioned Roatan! Great for scuba diving as well! Just subscribed…looking forward to more great videos!

Love your videos, just found them. I've been to 125 countries working for the US government and I have to agree with your picks, you're spot on.
Thank you ladies for these beautiful videos, I live in Kosovo in Europe, I would very much like to go with you on vacation and visits to other countries.

damn i remember watching some tour of today hiroshima and i couldn't hold back the tears when they show a primary school where you know that none of the children here make it out alive.
NICARAGUA 🇳🇮 BEAUTIFUL ❤
Love you're insight on these places. Everyone's experience in a place is different but I'm a little surprised that New Zealand didn't make it on your list for any number of categories.
Because I haven’t been there yet ;)
@@TravelingwithKristin at time of recording
Lovely people there. Lots of great music in Aotearoa as well.
My favorite country is Earth. It's truly amazing.
It''s hard to choose one country because every country has different qualities. For food, I'd say any country in the former Yugoslavia. For beauty, Peru. For friendliness, the Philippines. And for hospitality, I'd say Pakistan.
Thanks for sharing Mike! You picks are really great too 😊
Fantastic video. You are very enjoyable to listen too. Thank you Kristin. Babe alert..lol

Hey Kristen,
As an expat living in Southeast Asia, who has spent 35 years traveling, I really appreciate your videos and your honesty.
I am glad you enjoyed my videos, Kevin! I totally understand your insights and I appreciate you sharing them.
Out of 139 countries Manila is no. 86 in crime index by country 2022 mid year. Haha...in manila there was no mass shooting compare to your country and other places.
@kevin...Ireland, France, UK, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand et. are much higher crime rate than manila.

Wow the beauty of the countries is very pretty places
Indeed they are! 😊
Amazing the work you do. Unreal.
Thank you! Appreciate that 😊
Love this video 😊
Glad you loved it!! 😊
Thanks for sharing your insights as well Elizabeth! 😊
This is fantastic Kristin. We're gonna start doing more international travel and this is a fabulous starting point! Also, that must have been an amazing pomegranate!
Yes! Glad it was helpful and you enjoyed the video Trevor. Safe travels :)

Playa is my favorite place too,in fact I'm going back again this year.
I have not been to many of the places, but I have to agree that Vancouver is a great city (albeit pricey). I love the parks, sky train, and buildings. And there is so much good food. I also enjoyed Costa Rica. I've seen so many awesome animals and plants there. There are so many great places in the world.
ruclips.net/video/Xi5vyeZzKUQ/видео.html
Totally agree! Glad to know you resonated with my favorites 😊
Thanks for sharing your insights as well Robert! 😊
That is so awesome to hear Nef! Thank you for sharing! Indeed they are 😊
Kristin: Hooray!
