The cargo hold is the best part of this customization project. Someone suggested a cardboard insert for more detail. That would make this a superior display piece. As always your projects leave me inspired.
I'm not sure how well it will work with the stickers you make. But model builders use Microsol to attach decals. It helps the decal lay flat over curves and bumps. Actually makes it look more painted on than a sticker
You can always use a spray tint for your fixes to clear lenses. I used a red see through tint and made tail lights for a vintage motorcycle project I was working on and you really could not tell them from original.
You may be able to tint the cockpit glass with a brown/black acrylic paint wash. Just use a cheap Testers airbrush kit, not a brush. I've used this technique before and it works pretty good.
Nice workraft, as usual. Will you ever customize a vintage X Wing fighter by adding led lights? Maybe to the engines, the cockpit, or even R2's radar eye? It would be great!!!
Mmm.... I think that's contagious. I found myself digging into old toys boxes at local flea market last sunday... Find nothing, but next time l'll try again. So, i'll send you a note for refounding me the cost of my next Ikea Detolf! Anyway, great video as usual keep on doing them, cheers, Alex
As a designer myself, you may find illustrator easier and faster to use for sticker designs. Anyway I love your videos and what you do to restore stuff. Any some more die cast restorations in the pipeline? Like the Space 1999 one you did.
Always jealous of your skill and patience in doing these. Have you thought about doing the Blue and Gold version decals? ?. Just for fun . And shame about the shuttle being just a empty hulk.
+John Leightell That's a good idea. I might do those at some point. The stickers for this did take a long time to make. I was getting quite bored by the end.
I was just thinking as you had them already that a simple colour swap would be easy. Shame no one has come up with alternatives for the Falcon now that would be nice. I sadly don't have any of my original pieces from my childhood. I gave all away Action Man Star Wars and nearly all my model kits. Fortunately restored my Action Man and models. Just watch all these now with fond memories.
What about other vehicles like the Millenium Falcon, Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, TIE Fighter, TIE Advanced and the X-Wing, B-Wing, A-Wing and Y-Wing Fighters?
I love it, but I really feel you should have defused the LEDs in the boosters, and maybe even the one in the cockpit maybe. Other than that, it's amazing!
+Jon Aspinall any version really. But it takes practice. I have a video coming up where is show the basics if what I do. If it proves popular I will do more.
Hey I have a question for you! Do you know where I can look for a small red light so that I can light up the cockpit of a certain AT-ST to match the one from The Mandalorian series
+Alan Whelan No problem. I've been busy restoring toys recently so have a backlog of videos. Lots of good stuff to come. But it means some videos are held up.
Have you noticed that vintage star wars ships make a horrible plastic noise when playing with them compared to newer star wars ships must be the plastic used in the old days
The blue lighting makes the Slave I even better!

Not usually big on customizing vintage vehicles, but that's pretty sweet!
Excellent work I enjoyed how you put lights into slave one keep up the good work
brilliant restoration toy polloi.
Excellent result Dave, very impressed.

That's an awesome mod on the vintage Slave I.
You’re a master Dave fantastic work as always
Thanks.
i love the new stickers!!
great end result dave. the slave 1 looks so good. the lights add real display potential. next purchase for me..slave 1.
Great restoration!!
That was awesome to watch those two parts and making slave one look even better! Nice one.

+Pantone Ha ha. I'm only showing you ideas. You need to have a stronger will :)
Big fan of the custom stuff. Keep up the great work brother!
Will do. More to come :D
You've really outdone yourself. This custom looks magnificent!
Thanks. This one turned out really nicely. And all pretty simple bits that anyone can do.
Lovely job, David. The ship looks fantastic.
I really like those stickers you made. Great graphic style.
Great Restoration & Custom TP! Cheers, Fuzz.
You did a really wonderful job with this. I think it's definitely an improvement on the original.
Thanks Brian.

Another instant classic, great job on the details!
I've bought some gloss stickers off eBay just this week. I should have waited as your stickers look better. Great job as always.
+Rick Woodridge You'll have to do two ships.
I might have a crack at putting lights in as you've done. I think it looks better than the original look.
Amazing work Dave fantastic results.
Great video again. Love watching all of them.
Thanks David!
I think a cardstock insert (like on the Falcon) would really add a lot to the interior!
+OIFEagle That's a good idea. I might give that a go.
How about a hairdryer to warm the stickers to mould over curved surfaces? Don't use too much heat though, the plastic is liable to shrink a little.
fantastic . :) I think I might use some these techniques on the SW vehicles I have specially the T-cut on the canopies
Nicely done! Have you considered adding an LED on the body so it shines on the carbonite Solo?
This is amazing work.
Great final result!
Thanks
it's brilliant mate, the finish product looks amazing 👍
very good! :)
were i to change anything it would be to add a couple of red plastic disks to the engines to diffuse the light.
very nice work. have you considered using paint to make a more screen accurate Slave 1?
top notch as always - I loved this one!
Any chance you could post your PS work in real time... say in a separate video for all us PS fans?
Next time I will do a special real-time video as well. It could be along one though as it takes a hour or more to do an image like this.
verry nice result!

16:39 is that the ghost of an old jedi?
looks like Luke at Jabbas palace
I love it, but I really feel you should have defused the LEDs in the boosters, and maybe even the one in the cockpit maybe.
Other than that, it's amazing!
That's awesome. I love it!
Great custom. Very enjoyable to watch as always!! I wish I had your skills in Photoshop. What version do you recommend for a novice?
+Jon Aspinall any version really. But it takes practice. I have a video coming up where is show the basics if what I do. If it proves popular I will do more.
That's great news. I will look forward to them videos 😉👍
Hey I have a question for you! Do you know where I can look for a small red light so that I can light up the cockpit of a certain AT-ST to match the one from The Mandalorian series
Use the same type I used here, the red ones for the engine’s should work. They came from eBay. Cheers
Toy Polloi got em thanks!
Is it just possible to scan the sticker sheet and print it out on a sticker sheet?
It is. But you need a sticker sheer to scan in the first place and that is often hard to find. Cheers
a lot of my older toys used a drop of hot glue to hold wires into place
When is Part 3 being uploaded?
+Alan Whelan It will be a couple of weeks. Got lots on the go at the moment.
Toy Polloi thanks for taking the time to reply
+Alan Whelan No problem. I've been busy restoring toys recently so have a backlog of videos. Lots of good stuff to come. But it means some videos are held up.
Remarkable!
That is bad ass!
I HAVE YET TO SEE RECHARGEABLE 9 VOLT BATTERY!!
VERY NICE JOB, IT WOULD BE NICER IF THE CANONS MADE FIRING SOUND WHILE LIGHTING UP, BUT STILL WAY BETTER THAN BORING ORIGINAL KENNER!!!!
Have you noticed that vintage star wars ships make a horrible plastic noise when playing with them compared to newer star wars ships must be the plastic used in the old days
Boba Spa lights
Lol advert for makeup halfway through... Google ad tracker fail...
ten Points
I like it but, too be honest, some of the custom stickers are a little too much. i guess I'm just so used to the original.
