Thanks so much for making this and taking the time. I'm 37, I'm a girl, and I just bought my first little jon boat to putt-putt around in on the water so I can take pictures of wildlife. You made this so easy for me to figure out the first steps in the process.
I keep a spare brass fuel line quick connector in my boat. Its handy if the o-ring fails. It has another use. If there is fuel in the line, it gets nasty over time ,too. I hook up the spare fuel connector to the fuel line and pump the bulb to purge the stale fuel out of the line.
Yes, TC3 50/1 is perfect. If you have an Evinrude. If you have a different Evinrude that has a 100/1 sticker on it stay with 50/1. It was last longer and will NOT foul plugs. The 15’s are kick butt little motors....excellent. I got one two.
Do you use ethanol fuel in your motor? If so, the reason it seems to be running “ok” on older gas and good on new gas is because overtime ethanol fuel absorbs water from the air, and how you can tell in straight gas is if the fuel is orange. You can’t tell on 2 stroke but if it’s old and ethanol fuel, it’s got water in it. If it’s ethanol free none of what I just said matters.
I never run ethanol in any of my small motors. If you can get straight gas , run it, save you some aggravation, E gas is crappy gas, thank you....Your federal government.
get some seafoam for the Evinrude it should not take that long cranking it to start you have some jets that are clogged and run your engine dry at the end of your run days too so that you have no gas in the carb you will have a better time with your engine. with the seafoam use all 16oz for the 3 gallons of gas for a shock clean and about 8oz for a fuel stabilizing and cleaning at all times. it works for me and my 83 runs like brand new and starts on the first or second pull no electric start for me.
do you know where I could find an online manual for this motor. I have the exact same motor but its manual start. There is a dial near the pull cord and on left side it says rich and the right size of dial says lean with curved arrows going down on both sides. Im not sure where a good normal spot is for this dial. It ran fine, sat for a week, then after trolling at slow speed it died and would not restart.
Mine is currently 15 degrees to the rich side. I might be able to work it back a little, now that I'm running fresh gas and some seafoam. Also slowly working back the idle knob to slow from fast to get it just right. Maybe unscrew the fuel filter and have a quick look to see if it's clean. The fuel pump diaphragm which draws in the fuel, may have cracked.

I used to love night fishing. It’s so peaceful.
Can’t wait to see you back on the lake with it!!

Can you tell me where you have your rich/lean setting.
neat :D
Can you show or say where you have your rich/lean setting.
Dude so serious does it need to be plugged into a fricken battery? Please help lol
Just wondering how much the motor weighs just a rough estimate?
about a 100lb
with electric start 82lbs with pull start 75lbs
Without an electric starter ,75# plus a battery for a starter is 55#. Adds up quick.
Big fan of cavitation plates too.
we have a johnson 9.9 sea horse with a pull cord and it's not pulling ? do u know what we are doing wrong
Make sure in neutral

What's new? Are you streaming tonight?
I normally do stream on Mondays, but I am going fishing today. So right now it is up in the air!
What do you prefer, Evinrude or Johnson?
Couldn't give you an educated answer, because I only have had Evinrude. Now aren't they one in the same now?
blah blah blah.
please buy yourself a new motor lol
Why this one works great!
Evinrude made a lot of great engines, no point in replacing boat engines, especially not 2-stroke engines.
