In Goseong, Gyeonnam Province, there are fossilized dinosaur footprints. This may be one of the reasons NC chose the Dinos.

    Lovely video.
Now that we're branching out more, you should do a video on the CPBL match-fixing scandals.

I think it's hilarious that MBC was so adament about not wanting to copy a Japanese team while Lotte went "Nah" and named themselves after a Japanese team.
And then Samsung based their uniforms on a Japanese team.

Lotte happens to be japanese and korean company. Hence why lotte has the busan lotte giants, and chiba lotte marines.
The founder of lotte was zainichi, ethnic korean from Japan. He started his company in japan when korea was extremely poor. Later he moved the company to korea. It was first a chewing gum company, today it makes various snacks and has the biggest korean burger fast food chain called lotteria.
Lotte the company was named after the name Charlotte from the book pride and prejudice, which the founder liked.

Lotte Giants sounds meh. Lotte Seagulls would've been perfect, named after the folk song "Busan Galmaegi (Busan Seagull".

If I remember correctly, the Giants (Yomiuri) where named after the New York Giants (now San Francisco) so Lotte is named after the Giants of the MLB as well. Of course if I'm remembering that right.

@@jasonsstuff17 Yep, the Lotte Giants are named after the Yomiuri Giants who are named after the team that is now the San Francisco Giants
So in a roundabout way, you're right

Even as a huge KBO fan, I learned a ton here!
Re: SSG Landers, I have heard “Landers” is also named for the many planes that land at nearby Incheon Airport. But yeah, the name is definitely silly.
I made a much shorter, less detailed video on the same topic!

Landers make sense. See, Incheon is a port city, and the international gateway to Korea. Incheon is also the site of important landing operations in the Korean War.

Hopefully KBO expands to 2 new teams in Jeonju and Sejong and brings back the Raiders and Unicorns nicknames. KBO can support a couple of more teams

    • @khaikhuc1432
      @khaikhuc1432 3 месяца назад +2

Not by a long shot imo. They already don't have a lot of market population to support teams they already have, and birth rate is now cratered...
Unless they opt towards a scenario where Pyongyang and Nampo get a team lol.

    • @toskiemail1371

If the KBO expands it'd rather be in locations where the neutral ground games are held like Ulsan and Pohang

      1. Korea's top soccer league has 12 teams and they get by well enough.
      2. Population tends don't last forever. Especially in the era of mass immigration to developed nations.
      3. Attendance doesn't really mean as much anymore. It's more about merchandise sales corporate sponsorships and TV ratings for sports leagues now.
      4. If attendance is indeed that important, just Build smaller stadiums.
      5. If 12 teams can't occur, Move the Heros to Sejong. The fact Sejong doesnt have a team is ludicrous.
