  • Well, here's what works for me. I'll go over a few if the options I've tried and what I'm currently using. We'll be looking at small stoves, large stoves, and everything in between. We'll also take a look at how to transport water for cooking and refrigeration options. I hope you find something in the video helpful.

I'm running a full electrical system. Electric water heater (kettle), 1800W induction top, 12V travel oven. All powered by two 100Ah LFP batteries and a 2000W inverter. This has been such a revelation since we just have too much wind here to be happy with open flame cooking. Best thing is, we have no open flame, so we can easily use it inside our truckbed camper when the weather is aweful or the mosquitos are on the move.

Andrew White from 4xoverland did the same last year, and it looks to be an amazing step up. I just can't justify the cost. If I was full timing it, or at least traveling 3-4 months out of the year, it looks like a great option.

@@Jade_Overland - It is a great step up. The one downside is recharging. We have a small solar setup and with the help of a solar blanket can extend stays in a single place to about 4 days in good solar conditions, the we have to drive to recharge (at 55A rate). It works well for us. We have a small white gas hiking stove for emergencies and can also cook on a charcoal grill. So, we have options. It’s just so incredibly convenient not to have to find the various fuel types anymore. We used to use propane, iso-butane, and gasoline (and diesel for the heater). Now it’s just diesel for truck and heater. Everything else is electric.

That awning is something. I wonder if it’ll fit in my Forster….

Depends on your roof rack. You can't use something like a Prinsu, it won't support it. But a FrontRunner rack with their mount would work. Standing room may be an issue though.

Great video. Deserves more subscribers. However, video size is weird.

Thanks for the kind words. I messed up when I was filming. I did a short for my Instagram and shot it in 1:1 since that's what insta uses. Then filmed this, forgetting to change the settings back. I have a new camera, and I'm new to RUclips, so I'm in the learning phase. Good news is it should only get better from here lol.

Don't understand why any burner would not have an igniter...especially the small ones because the whole idea is not carrying extra stuff. The green Coleman ($45) is excellent! Your Coleman doesn't have variable heat settings??? Those JetBoil Genesis 2 burners are expensive! but really nice.

I agree, an ignition source would be very nice. Inside of the pot there's plenty room though for a lighter, so it's not a huge deal. When camping I usually have a couple lighters around anyway.
My Coleman shows variable temp, but in practice there is no flame change no matter where I turn the knob. I assume it's supposed to, mine just doesn't. The flame control on the Jetboil is great though. It's like cooking at home.
The Jetboil Genesis and Half-Gen that I have are a little spendy, but I consider them a buy once, cry once product. Now that I've had the opportunity to use it a bunch, it's absolutely worth the cost. Thanks for watching!

The awning is from Taruca. They just brought out new awnings, so you'll have to see what they're offering now.

Good stuff bro. I like the 2 burner idea. Also… looks like you’ve mastered the cast iron seasoning… I’m on my 3rd one… I’ll get there eventually. Until then- food will continue to taste rusty.

Your Genesis Basecamp is awesome. The Flash will be super helpful though. 👌
