    I'm so so happy to finally see a professional retoucher show how things are done. There is many retouchers on youtube but they either skip steps or are not to the high end quality you are. Love your channel!!

      @@JanWischermann I just came across a plugin called Retouch Ninja, lol. But most of them are just a bunch of actions with it's own interface.

    again, amazing tutorial and you seem like such a genuine person. I learned a lot even though I consider myself pretty good at PS. something that is difficult for me is to know how to edit smile lines and lines under eyes without over doing.... also I use fs to even out highlights but with the mixer brush. Also sometimes I use cloning and darken mode. Then i fix any colur shifts,

    Man! I am impress to the level of attention to detail. Things that I would never see or bother to take out you have. Congrats. I have 2 questions: 1.- how to you change from the dodge layer to the burn automatically? 2.- Is there a tip you could give us to know when to burn and when to dodge? I find myself almost always dodging. Thanks a lot! :)

      Ricardo, thank you so much! Let me answer your questions: 1. Switching between layers is done by an old script of PhotoshopChef. He doesn’t offer it anymore on his website, but there is a panel that you could purchase from his website that has this feature. My friends from Infinite Tools are also about to release a free script with that feature soon. I am testing it at the moment. 2. Well, thievish completely up to the individual image. Most of the time it is dodging, you’re right. Taking a closer look at the image and it’s nuances you’ll find yourself burning more as well. It’s about balancing out the tones rather then just lightening the darker parts. Therefore it is a good idea to zoom out and take a look at the image as a whole (without help layers). It’s learning to see.

      @@JanWischermann Thanks so much! I understand, it´s learning to see, like you say. I will pay close attention. And about the script. I will wait and search for a way. I think it´s so useful and one of the reason why so many peple probably like the 1 grey layer, so they can change easily...

      @@JanWischermann do you know if the script has been released yet? If so, is there a link? Still looking for something like that. Would rather keep cursor on the image instead of constantly moving to the layers palette to switch dodge and burn. Thanks.

      @@JanWischermann wow. Thanks. I’m a customer of Pratiks and must have passed right by that video. I have an action that makes both curves layers, which ends on the Lighten layer mask and also selects a soft white brush from the Brush Preset list. I will now add to the end of the action to select both layers and apply the keyboard shortcut for the script. Very helpful. Thanks for the link.

    I can't thank you enough for all those information and step by step work that you share with the world! I learnt a lot Jan! By the way, in the last step for reducing shinning does using burn with a big brush size work for the forehead? Also do you offer your FS action for download? Thank you so much again! Good luck with your projects!

    • @JanWischermann
      @JanWischermann  Год назад

      Thank you Nate, my big pleasure! Using a big burn brush can work. But you have to be very careful - not to darken the whole area. What I wanted to achieve is, that just the shine is taken out. Not the forehead was darkened. Maybe by burning just the highlights and taking out all other tonal ranges by using the blend if? Try and let me know 🙌🏼

    Nice series. Still loving the help layers for your DnB, but I’m noticing it’s just half luminosity and the other half inverted by using the solar curve. Then controlling what you want to see by the brightness/contrast layer

    • @JanWischermann
      @JanWischermann  3 года назад

      Hey Haies09, thank you so much! You’re right, i do use the help layers absolutely flexible to reveal what I need to see gradually in the very image. Solar curve and luminosity serve as base and the brightness/contrast is the “slider” to move through the image. Use it as you wish 😊🙌🏼 Super happy it helps you!

    Hi Jan,
    fellow Düsseldorfer checking in here! I appreciate that you share all your knowledge + techniques during those full retouch sessions! Become somewhat of my morning routine to follow you along how to achieve a high end result :)
    I see that you can switch through layers with a keyboard shortcut - wondering how you managed to do it? The last time I tried it I encountered this weird situation that this function exists to US keyboards users (native) right from the beginning however all other keyboards (other than US layout) would need to either run a script which triggers a specific keyboard shortcut and then translates it into a US keyboard input to make it possible OR you simply have to waive it.
    Two questions which came up my mind: Could you elaborate onto file handling --> when to use a .tif and when to use a .psd file (advantages vs. disadvantages)? And do you prefer using Infinite Looks vs. Infinite Color? Love that you highlight how color grading should be first and foremost a playful approach and to shuffle through different looks using those tools!!!

      As for the toggling between the d&b layers, there’s has been a script for that. Please send me an email so that I can forward you the contact of the author of the script.
      And as for your topic suggestions, so cool, I’ll definitely consider those for upcoming videos. Thank you. You rock!
