This is a great video and I used it to guide my way through setting up my first Baratza Encore. Let me note that there are now newer gaskets being included with the latest batches. I was freaking out when I got the machine and saw this much smaller gasket included. Baratza support got back to me immediately and explained many machines were released without new documentation explaining the new gaskets. In any case, the gasket is smaller and simply slips into the Burr grinder. No more lining up tabs. It's so much easier to install. I am certain anyone with an existing model can order one of these new gaskets if they are tired of fiddling around with the older ones.
Thank you for the info Ron! They updated the gaskets with the new Encore ESP grinders but we weren’t aware they changed them on the regular ones as well! The new gaskets are a lot easier to place we have found 😊 We will have to make an updated video 😉
Even with the clear demonstration I can barely do it. It doesnt' stay on easily. Lining up those notches is totally non intuitive. Who designed this shit
Thank you so much for the informative video….I just bought this grinder and I’m new to grinding and brewing my own coffee, saying goodbye and good riddance to k cups and single brew machines! I want to master the art of making the perfect cup of Joe! I just got a Technivorm coffee maker and I’m so excited. I have so much to learn!
Amazing Julie! We hope you enjoy your coffee journey. The Technivorm/Moccamaster is an amazing machine. Definitely one of our favourites :) Happy brewing!
Thanks for adding an instruction absent from the manual. I would take exception, however, to the claim that this is not suitable for espresso. It does, simply put.
Wish I would have seen this tutorial before I set up my new grinder. I was using the instruction pamphlet but didn’t realize there were red marks to line up the grinder. I am not able to remove the grinder now that it’s in incorrectly. Any suggestions on removing so I can reinsert with the red marks aligned? Thanks.
For some reason, the black circle rubber is really small - i have a hard time trying to expand it to wrap it around the milky plastic circle. Is it normal?
I have replaced the burr holder..(missing all 3 flsps) Pallet wheel is fine with 4 and clicking sound OK... But takes too much time like 2min for just 40grams... Thats too much right?
@@ecscoffeeinc hey thanks for answering... Just regular 22-25 grind level... I did notice the grind is somewhat extra fine than I recalled before.. I'm not even sure for how long I got my burr holder broken TBH, so that makes me wonder if has an effect into calibration... The actual burr has to be change after 4 years or so? (use twice a day )
Having the same issue right now! I have the new gasket design but not the new manual. I place the hopper lined up with the silver, but it only rotates one click and then does not budge. Cannot for the life of me figure out a configuration that makes it rotate. I have the internal grind setting spun all the way counterclockwise so everything seems lined up, but still no hopper rotation so I’m essentially stuck at the top grind setting.
@@js4unc11 I did actually! After damn near an hour of restarting the setup process over and over again, as dumb as it is - my last attempt was just a flagellating effort of methodically, surgically inserting the thin side of the gasket inside. Absolutely perfectly! Not a single lip curling. After that it finally slid machine-perfect down just enough more to click into the locked position so as to allow the grind setter to spin. It needed way more babying than any video lets on. Might have been warped just enough on arrival.
The manual gives horrible instruction. I finally got it to work by putting the gasket on the bottom of the hopper and then placing it on the unit. I don’t know why it seems so simple in all the videos.
The "gasket" barely fits over those notches and doesn't stay on easily. Who designed this crap? Why doesn't the rubber gasket just come already attached?
These gaskets function more as a feeding tube for the beans than a securing gasket! They need to be easily removable since they will need to be replaced with use and wear :)
I think they have changed the gasket and possibly the configuration of the bottom of the bean hopper. The gasket I received was smaller than the manual illustration, did not have an angled surface on it, and did not have notches to fit over the tabs! After a little bit of looking, I realized that it actually sits differently than the picture in the instructions, and different than what you see on this video. I finally figured it out by putting the gasket on the bottom of the bean hopper first. If you try that, it's pretty obvious that the narrow end goes up into the bottom of the bean hopper, and the wider end goes down. I hope this helps. By the way, my instructions were dated February of 2021, and I just bought my unit. So I think they made a production change but did not update the manual.
We're just saying it may screw up your grinder haha, not that you've screwed up. Over time, the Burs will wear out a bit, and the 0 setting will become usable. But jumping in immediately from new and setting it to 0 might cause issues. Like with most things, the tollerence just isn't always 100% perfect. They're designed to work great over a long lifespan and work themselves in.

Helpful review. Recommended setting for a Technivorm? Thank you.

Nice Omega Diver 300:) Also loved the video
Thanks for the informative video. Helped me figure out that mine was missing the gasket when they sent it to me….
Oh no! Hopefully you were able to get the gasket or get a new grinder :)
I just got this grinder , at what setting is best for making coffee in a percolator.
What type of percolator do you have?
@@ecscoffeeinc , I have the Coletti Bozeman perculator
@@carmen6364 It looks like the company recommends a coarse grind, so grinding at 30 would be sufficient :)
@@ecscoffeeinc Thank you !
@@ecscoffeeincty!
great.... i bought mine for espresso
Oily beans = old or roasted pretty dark (past 2nd crack). Big box store beans are likely pretty old :D
How do you line up the red lines in the gasket? I don’t want to force it but I can’t get them lined up.
For some reason, the black circle rubber is really small - i have a hard time trying to expand it to wrap it around the milky plastic circle. Is it normal?
Hi! You may have a grinder with the new gasket. That gasket will justt sit on the inside of the upper burr!
@@ecscoffeeinc yes you are right!
Thanks for letting me know I'm not crazy@@ecscoffeeinc
This was the perfect video.
What setting for percolators- don’t laugh- percolatorsake great coffee aha
Hi! What percolator do you have?
What if hopper comes off and we need to recalibrate white ring?
THANK YOU
How would this be for Moka Pot? Thanks.
This is a great grinder for Moka pot :)
Would you recommend this for grinding beans to use in a Moka pot? If so what setting number would be good to start with?
Yes! This grinder would do well with a Moka pot! We would start at grind size 6. Moka pot needs a fine grind but not espresso grind :)
Happy brewing!
I am having an issue with the Silicone gasket every time i fit it on the Burr it just jumps back up. Did anyone have the same issue?
The gasket should just sit on top of the ring burr! It then gets held in place by the bean hopper :)
Mine just won’t turn on at all… is there some type of safety or something I don’t know about?
If the unit is plugged in and the burrs are aligned correctly the unit should turn on! We would recommend reaching out to Baratza for some help!

Hi Carlos! That sounds a little long.. how fine are you grinding?

@@carloscruz-sz4qo Burrs may need to be changed after years of use. We would recommend using Grindz to clean the grinder burrs and see if this helps!
Mine won’t rotate and I’ve tried setting the black grind adjustment ring counter clockwise any other suggestions?

Why would you describe using the finest setting as screwing up? This is a design issue and you’re in denial.
