You can cover the outside of the glass with matte black vinyl to hide the paint mishaps! It’s easy to install and won’t require you to move the cabinet outside. It comes in different colors, textures, and patterns if you’re interested in a pop of color.
This has got to be one of the best videos you’ve produced. I mean, they’re all fantastic but this one? Wow! Kudos to you, Harli. You make me feel like I can do it too!
Harli!!! This is A-Mazing!!!! You are such an artist! That tree stump was a genius addition…it looks so cool! The whole thing looks absolutely beautiful and your boys are going to have so much fun watching it grow and watching the little critters do their thing!! You should be super proud of your accomplishment!!
Love it, I would be tempted to add dart frogs. I have them and I have an automatic spraying system installed you could install to keep the humidity up and spray the plants. There is silicone for aquaria that wont harm your plants for certain and aqusarium lights might be a good alternative for mother lights for people.
Omg I looove this idea!! I really want to use this IKEA cabinet idea for a new corn snake I'm getting. And maybe use a smaller cabinet for like a chameleon or something.. I love how you explained everythinggg it's really really helpfulll!!
Building out a cabinet like this is a dream! I have focused my creative energy into sprucing up the vivarium for my crested gecko. So a cabinet would be that on steroids 😂 I would suggest adding springtails! They’re an additional clean-up crew to the isopods.. focusing on mold-like growth and isopod waste. Also.. adding charcoal to the substrate if you didn’t already! Good for mold prevention and the springtails love it.
Harli, you are glowing! Stunning! 🥺💚 I’ve watched you before your two boys were born and now I have a 10-month old baby girl. You are the reason for my plant addiction, but my pregnancy made it so hard to care for them. I became nauseous around them, but now I’m missing the daily plant chores and I still can’t believe how strong your passion is for your plants. Amazing! 🤩 Thank you for such a fun video! 😊😊
I'm from Germany and I really want to do this kind of greenhouse cabinet. It's beautiful. Thanks for your inspiration ❤️ your cabinet is absolutely stunning 😍
Looks amazing! 😍 When I made mine I used the Spray Foam Insulation that expands up to 3 inches so it covered more of the area. Might be helpful for anyone looking into building their own 🤘🏽
Thanks so much for explaining like the aesthetic layout in detail! For us who aren’t as creative, it helps a lot. I love how you did it, it turned out phenomenal!

Thank you so much for this tutorial, I am SO EXCITED to make this! I appreciate how clearly and detailed you explained everything, and also leaving in the mistakes you made so we can learn from it and avoid them. =) I will probably make one that's like 1/8 the size since I have a small room lol, but I know it will look absolutely beautiful.
Looks amazing. One thing I would have done differently is used silicone on the glass to give the spray foam something to anchor onto. Then shaved the foam and cover the foam with more silicone, so the substrate stayed in place.
I wish there were levels to the like button... cuz wow! I love it so much!! I’m getting my cabinet very soon but it’ll likely be quite awhile until I’m ready to do something like this. I’m super excited to see these lil babies of yours fill in! Great job Harli!! Stop doubting yourself, you’re awesome! ❤
I wonder if serpadesigns would be down to do a collab with you?? That would be SUCH a cool video! Two of my favourite youtubers together for a project 😍
Last year I built a full custom one, 7ft-6ft-4ft with a jungle floor bottom , a 55g tank of water with fish and aquatic plants and stuff and a river and 2 water falls. IT WAS A HASSLE! I had to take it apart and re build it 4 times bc of leaks and I almost gave up. Thank fully the last rebuild was the perfect one and now I’m a year in with no problems and I love it
This is so beautiful! You did a great job. It looks so natural- right our of the forest. Thanks for sharing all the steps, from beginning to end. Keep us up to date on how the plants are doing. Can’t wait to so see it grow!
It looks amazing! I can’t wait to make my own. My suggestion would be to cover the sides on the outside of the cabinet with sticky contact paper that way you wouldn’t have to spray paint it.
oh Harli you did it! it looks awesome! well done!, I love how it looks! I have the short rudsta that I converted early this year and I am so in love with it! I struggle with light make in it to the plants at the bottom so I have to removed a few but its the best! isopods are so fun! I also added springtails! Oh and the wood thing was the best I also refused to pay the store prices for drift wood, I ended up taking some from the woods near me and some are rotting and some grow mushrooms you live you learn! love it! give us a tour when things fill in a bit! 🥰
I would absolutely love a video about plants you recommend for a terrarium set up! I just got a standing fish tank for free and I'm planning out my terrarium build. Love this so much!
the timing of this video COULD NOT BE BETTER. I'm planning out a crested gecko tank with this technique and I've been watching and rewatching videos like this so i don't mess it up, lol. This ended up gorgeous! i love the idea of the pots and cups and things to fill it out.
You could also consider adding a layer of charcoal to the bottom substrate if you have to redo it at any point down the road. I really love what you did; it’s just beautiful 💚
Before watching: Ooh, yes I would like on of those. After watching: yea, no...I'm not doing all that. Still looks really cool though. Vid still worth a watch
A tip for others building something like this: you can pick up a spray can paint shaker that attaches to a drill and does all the shaking for you. They run about $50. I use mine all the time.
🤯🤯 BEAUTIFUL!!! After watching Ashley's video about closed growing,I started to contemplate doing this. Then I remembered her video of building her large cabinet. I pushed back the idea for a later date as the cabinet isn't cheap and holidays are coming quickly. You have changed my mind to be really serious about doing this. You did a fabulous job and it looks like a piece of the wild outside brought in. I LOVE IT!!!🤩😍🤩😍. I wish that I lived near you,so we could do it together 😢. Thank you for the product listings and awesome video! 🥰😍🤩😘💓
I love, love how your project turned out. awesome 👌. maybe one day I'll have the courage to make one. in the meantime 😷 ill admire yours. good job 👏 👍 👌

I’m really tempted now to use my tax return and buy a cabinet use all 10 years of experience on this things 😪😪 I hate you but I love you for giving me inspiration…..I must do what I have to do now. Let me know if you want updates and pictures or even videos
If you want the moss to stick better, I suggest cutting the smooth “crust” off the dried foam, carving it off. The more porous inside is a better surface for silicone to adhere too.
@@HarliG yeah, backgrounds like this are very popular in the reptile and amphibian hobby, so if your looking for some information sources take a look at vivarium backgrounds from there
@@HarliG Ooo, that is neat! I have noticed that some worms have escaped and dried on the ground around my Rudsta, so I applied weather stripping along the doors and that seems to have helped. It is all a learning process. 🤍
Awesome job! I want to try to put one together, but I’m a little lost on what kind of moss is best. Will the dried moss you used on this build and included in the description grow? Silly question, but just curious. Want to make sure I’m doing it right the first time. Thanks, and this looks so amazing!
I feel for you when it comes to finding cool wood for projects. Its lucky I live in Maryland where there is beach access. I only have to drive a short distance in any direction and I can find a park or a beach with cool looking natural wood pieces. There is a park in my area I like to go to with a beach that is like a driftwood graveyard. The natural current of the river there spits up tons of driftwood pieces on the beach that make the best supports for plants and DIYs.

I was just about to comment this same thing! Removable vinyl/wallpaper is easy to put on and much more scratch resistant
Such a good idea! Thank you 🙏
Yes, just came onto comments to suggest this same thing! Then you don’t have to worry about scratches.
Or use black spray foam and black silicone as well
hmm aquarium people do that all the time, quite a norm
