  • FDOT's Gateway Expressway project will consist of construction of a new four-lane elevated statically tolled expressway connection from US 19 (SR 55) to west of I-275 (SR 93), and from the Bayside Bridge (CR 611) to west of I-275. Also included with the project will be adding a dynamically tolled express lane in each direction in the section of I-275 from south of Gandy Boulevard to north of 4th Street North.

Gateway Expressway is a fantastic idea and a needed, limited-access, non-stop, interstate-quality access to Interstate 275 in Pinellas County, Florida. Gateway Expressway will put Pinellas County's PIE (airport west) on an interstate quality access that will match Hillborough County's TIA (airport east) interstate access. Gateway Expressway will make direct, non-stop access to Interstate 275 directly available from McMullen-Booth Road, Drew Street, and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard in Clearwater, and also East Bay Drive/Roosevelt, Brian Dairy Road, and US 19 in Largo, Florida. This addition will relieve some of the traffic volume that previously had to go further south on US 19 to Gandy Blvd.

Just more tolls and tolls! Construction projects in Florida take forever. Just to widen SR 54 from two to four lanes in Pasco County west of Zephyrhills will have taken six years!

I don't understand the current construction happening on the 275 northbound flyover at Roosevelt heading west over the interstate. It's all torn up and new pilings are going up, but this doesn't seem to indicate any changes to that flyover?

Is there no direct access from US19 S to W bound Bryan Dairy Rd? Your graphic shows access via the frontage road but the last place you can access that frontage Rd from 19S is Ulmerton. Is there an exit for Bryan Dairy like there is currently or no?

I went 118th Ave off of 43rd St to TPA. Surprised when it went left and was merging into the
FAST Lane of 275. I don't recall ever merging 'right' onto the Fast Lane that has been your Speeders. I did not see any Yield and was pouring down rain 9/10/22. I felt lucky I did not
merge into that fast lane as the car I did not see was passing by me. I was confused as to how
I was to merge into a fast lane off 118th Ave to 275N. In future will access 275N from Gandy so I can avoid what I feel accident prone.

So it looks like you're not going to have an exit to 118th Avenue that turns into Bryan Dairy headed west to the beaches. Is that correct? If so that is just absolute Insanity absolute insanity. If anybody knows any differently please let me know

There is an exit to 118th Ave, or will be one at any rate. When you get off the interstate onto the (westbound) Gateway Expressway, the first "exit" heads towards Ulmerton/Roosevelt Blvd portion, and the second "exit" merges onto 118th Ave just east of US 19.

@@JeffGoldblumsChest I see that thus my question and that stinks. Another frontage road poorly designed to have traffic backed up. I may not have been clear but that is not going to be good with all of the beach traffic and people going home. STUPID

It's incredible how much you are able to ignore that mass transit is the real solution, but it is Florida we are talking about, a place so stuck in the 60's and 70's that it isn't even safe for our children to walk or bike home.

Express lanes are a scam. If an area needs extra lanes due to heavy volume and the lanes are built with taxpayer money, why is the taxpayer charged again to use them?
