Two comments as an owner of an X2D. The camera does have face detection, and it is effective. Second a significant difference in the lenses is that the shutter is actually in the lens not in the camera body. This permits flash sync speeds of up to 4000th of a second, something not available from other manufacturers negating the power reductions of high speed sync.
I almost got one, decided on a Phase instead, I really like the idea of the X2D, but it seems like they are giving them away like they are tossing ballast overboard a sinking ship. I feel like the replacement/revision is coming soon, but they need to ramp up lens production, that was one of the issues for me.
Sony's global shutter camera can do 1/80,000th of a second (without HSS), so it is available from other manufacturers. And before anyone calls me a Sony fanboy, I'm a Canon R5 shooter.
@@waynedennyphoto There is some question about global shutter being video first by down sampling individual frames in order to up the framerate over all and make up the difference in sheer volume. I shoot with ZCam with global shutter myself. I think getting away from the gimmick of HSS is a good thing but global shotter and color science all need to match up with true 14/16 bit color.
Hassy is desperate to give these away lately to anybody with a RUclips channel. Starting to feel better about buying the Phase One instead of it. X3D must be on it's way.
A few edits- if you update the firmware, it has face detection (but not tracking). 16 bit color doesn’t really affect DR, the larger color gamut means better tonality, transitions, etc. The lenses are more expensive bc they have leaf shutters in them, which then allows for flash sync speeds up to 1/4,000 depending on the lens. Would also mention the IBIS which rivals LUMIX cameras, and maybe the HNCS, which of course can be replicated in post, but man it is nice sooc.
It definitely has face detection. Also, many recent updates to the software have been amazing. More so than my Sony A1, the laggard of updates. If there is an X3D with a joystick, I will buy that and sell the A1.
but this camera has "Phase detection" as well as "face detection" I don't understand exactly which one you're talking about. It's true that it doesn't have eye detection.
What they don’t tell you about the X2D as an owner. 1) Doesn’t work with Capture One 2) Phocus is their proprietary photo editor and is behind LR/PS and Capture and terrible to use. 3) You need an extremely capable computer to process. At least and M2 Max MacBook Pro. 4) Your drives will fill up fast! Got myself a 64TB NAS… Literally the only thing that distinguishes this camera is Image Quality at ISO 64-200.

Saw the whole video expecting a flash test because of the leaf shutter…😢. Please lend the camera to Patrick for a bit 😂

Amazing video, like all of your other videos!!!!! 😀👍🏻

Like Moog, once thought untouchable....I believe the days of Hasselblad are numbered.
I'll keep my 12mpx, thanx
In short, Hasselblad shouldn't have sent this camera to Fstoppers, lol.
Hey Nutter Butter! What cam and lens are you using for this video… Clean!!!! Holy crap

I thought it did have eye/face detection?
Hasselblad please collab 😅
