Great video! You're indeed fortunate, IMHO, to live in an area as steeped in History as Oswestry. Here in the States, by and large, we measure our History in decades where you measure yours in millenia. And, your presentation shows a command of the language and subject matter that far belies your age. Keep up the good work!

I was a junior soldier at Park Hall Camp 1974-75 and spent the best year of my life there. My battalion was the last before the camp was demolished. I loved the place but as I was young I didn't take much notice of all the great places and buildings etc you have showed in your video's. I would love to return to Oswestry but my memories are of the camp and I would be deeply saddened to see the open fields instead of the camp where my home for 13 months was so happily spent.

You are so very lucky Dan. Not only is the area and history both beautiful and fascinating, but despite living there all your life, you are still able to appreciate it and treasure it. Thanks one again for sharing your life with us!

As with your other films; this is fun, charming, and a total delight. And, as usual, I hated to see it end. I want to go there...thank you! Cheers!

Excellent. I MISS Oswestry. My mum was born and raised there, and my dad was doing his basic training at Park Hall camp when they met. I've spent a lot of time there visiting my grandparents, who lived in Albert Road. It's good to see the Bailey Head again, and the Earthworks. Thanks for posting this. Does my ol' heart good...

What an interesting video. Just the right mix of historical facts and general observations. I nice blend of urban and rural scenes. With great commentary and beautiful scenery it would be your best video to date. Thanks for making it.

Another good video Dan, thank you. Old Oswestry Earthworks I knew as the 'second copy' where we played for hours when we were kids. I don't know how it became known to us as the 'second copy' but it was. Recognised most of the other landmarks but 'Middleton pool' escapes me entirely. I grew up in the Liewyn Road area of the town and went to Woodside Primary School.
Left the town aged twenty, nearly fifty years ago now but your film is calling me home. Cheers mate.

Over the past 4 months I have given you 100 Thumbs Up on 4 or 5 occasions, thinking that is the Best video yet; and it will be a long time before you top it. This video will be difficult to surpass, but I leave the accolades to other viewers. However, I give this video 500 THUMBS UP just for the beauty of the scene at 10:06, which all the money in the world could not duplicate. PRICELESS

Very nice film Dan. I love Oswestry, and always call in on my way from Bolton to our static caravan in Mid Wales. Love to walk the Monty and see the progress of its renovation. Will give you a wave if I come across you.

Beautiful town! Here I am as an American, born and raised in southern California, and dreaming of visiting places like this in my ancestral homeland.
One of my favorite bands, Marillion, recording a live acoustic album called Unplugged At The Walls at a local Oswestry pub in 1998, and it sounded like a fun night of dinner, drinks and music, and was recorded very "fly on the wall"...Have you ever heard it, Sort of Interesting? If not, check it out. And check out Marillion. Brilliant band.

doing my genealogy I found out my ,+++grandma came from this area. she was born Mary Jane Pugh in 1822 & probably left for America about 1840 or so. I would love to visit this beautiful place someday!

There's quite a few Pugh's come from round here. I was talking to one only this afternoon in fact! You should get over and have a look at the place. If it's history you want then there's more than enough to go round!
