After that, Conker grew to be quite the sassy squirrel and Banjo went off to enjoy retirement with Kazooie. Tiptup on the other hand went off to be a famous musician. We aren't sure what happened to the other racers, however.

If you think about it, this ending is actually sad. Half of thos characters we will probably never see again, and a couple of them would go on to have their once-good series destroyed.

Yeah you do, he went on to have his own game, Banjo & Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, and then on X box platform, Nuts and Bolts. Even Tip Tup the turlte and the Crunch is in his game on certain maps.
Half the characters? Hope you include every characters and not just the main 8, because Diddy, Tiptup, Cobker, Banjo, Bumoer and Krunch (sorta) appeared in at least once game after this. Only Pipsy and Timber never made it out.
Rare videogames were an absolute masterpiece.
This one in my opinion was even better than Mario Kart 64 and i am a huge fan of this saga
This was definitely more fun than Mario Kart 64 back in the days. The time I spent with my friends playing battle mode on a small TV sharing 4 screens 🤣😭😭 man this game is NOSTALGIA!
Rare were the epitome of gaming! DK Country, Diddy Kong Racing and Goldeneye marked the start of what gaming is today…🙌🏽🔥!

As someone who never even got to Wizpig as a kid, I just assumed back then that he sounded like Danny Devito specifically because Diddy Kong Racing has the exact same plot as Space Jam.

The problem is that this game came out in a time way before Microsoft created the Xbox, and FPS were not as popular as today, and making a sequel to this will be difficult in today’s gaming unfortunately.
This is the true final ending, right? Why do they leave it on such a dark note? The day is saved! But Wizpig's drone is still roaming free! Thanks for playing!

Damn thats so sad. A sequal would have been cool. This was my favorite game as a child, I was about 5-6 yeays old. Just beat the game again, much easier this time around

I never got to beat Wizpig in outer space. Glad I got to see the ending on RUclips. How I miss playing this game. The music and the coloful graphics.
That laugh you hear at the end is not that of Wizpig but that of Wizhog. Early developer diaries indicate there was supposed to be a sequel. With the main villain being Wizhog - Wizpig’s evil brother set out for vengeance. But development for the game stopped and there’s not much info after that.
I just made all of that up.

I guess this is the last time that we ever see Wizpig, the infamously difficult challenger of Diddy Kong Racing. What happened to him in the end, I'll never know. But he's never come back to any video game since he was sent flying into space. Maybe one day, he will return for his long-awaited revenge...

Wizpig and Bowser were the only bad guys in games who sincerely gave me the heebie-jo-jeebies. I beat Bowser but never beat Wizpig. I'm better at fighting games than racing games, so I think I gave up on beating the game out of frustration and honestly perhaps out of fear of someday racing Wizpig. I was a little kid when I played Diddy Kong Racing so I don't feel too much like a chicken. :)
Wizpig was probably more scary. Just imagine, a pig that is like 20 feet tall, a wizard, and to top that all off, is an intergalactic Alien pig that takes over other planets.
Something about the low rez visuals and janky audio distortion that makes those characters in those games still creepy to me.

Agreed. Unfortunately it's never going to happen because Microsoft bought Rare. A new Diddy Kong Racing would definitely be without Taj, TT, Timber, Conker, Banjo, Tiptup, Drumstick, Pipsy, Bumper and Wizpig in it. Perhaps not Krunch, because kremlings are original Donkey Kong Country enemies.

***** Of course! They own the Donkey Kong franchise, so they can use anything that belongs to it, i.e. Kongs and kremlings. But the rest of the racers belong to Rare and Rare is a part of Microsoft.

This was one of the first games I've ever owned, and I still haven't beaten it because of the stupid silver coin challenges.
Aaron Harley it was only recently, when I realized my favorite character, Krunch, had the worst handling in the game and that's why I couldn't do several of the car levels. Recently went back and finished the game with other characters and wow the car is driveable
Recently I purchased a N64 to replay this gem from child hood and I recommend you do the same . The coin challenges aren't that bad took me a few days to beat the game . Definitely worth it

That one village race in the fourth level was the most difficult silver coin challenge. Took me untold hours to finally get it right.

I think it's because of the access to the balloons. The first race the zippers were the only way to beat him. Any mistake and you're gone
Well, I just played it recently and it was the total opposite for me because I couldn't use the balloons correctly

After this adventure, Krunch the Kremling returned to DK Island with Diddy, just to show that even Kremlings could get along with Kongs. Conker went on to wherever he came from, but eventually fell into a drinking habit some time after finding a girlfriend and stopping an evil acorn from stealing his birthday presents. Banjo the Bear went on home to his sister, Tootie, and soon met, befriended, and had adventures with Kazooie. As for Tiptup the Turtle, T.T. the Stopwatch, Pipsy the Mouse, Bumper the Badger, Timber the Tiger, Taj the Genie and Drumstick the Rooster, they're likely still living in peace on Timber's Island.
But we all know that Wizpig was still alive after that last race, since we heard his laughter. He's likely back at Future Fun Land, but knows better than to take over, or attempt to take over, Timber's Island, because he knows that those racers will be ready to stop him.
Going around squishing frogs was so entertaining and I don’t know why.

That's what i thought the first time i saw it when i was a kid but no sequel was ever made, and the Donkey Kong Racing game that was being developed by that time got cancelled so... yeah... the closest thing to a sequel would be the DS version but that game isn't really good compared to the N64 version in my opinion.

After this ending, when they freed the world from the evil Wizpig, it seemed that everything would turn out for the good, but in the end it ended up even more depressing...
Many characters were supposed to have their own games, but they were scrapped. Pipsy should have her own space game, Timber should have his own racing game, while some characters never again appeared as Drumstick, Bumper or T.T
Conker became an alcoholic who was more popular with adult audiences, but he was also later forgotten and Tiptup appeared only a few times in a few levels from banjo kazooie
The only characters that have had success are Banjo, who got several Banjo Kazooie style games and after a long break returned to Smash Ultimate, and of course Diddy himself, who is probably the most popular of the cast.
i remember playing this when i was five, i finally beat the level and my older brother was jumping around and the 64 broke, very sad moment :(

I bet in the DS version, conker and banjo went to a vacation to relax after wizpig's evilness. Tiny and Dixie (I think) returned from a LONG trip. Maybe that explains why they are not in the game. Taj decides to be a racer too, and after wizpig crashed, he shrunk and well, he had no choice but to join Diddy kong and his team.

i never have seen this boss and i did not expect wizpig to bust through the wall.
Does anyone think that Wizpig could actually be the final Boss of the next Donkey Kong Country game?? We had Tiki Tong, His Frostiness Lord Fredrik, and we could maybe discover that Wizpig used them both to test the Kongs' strength. They are elemental enemies, after all.

Wizpig may be easy on this big winding spacey obstacle ridden race track, but man, on that little circle track... god damn...
Jennifer Benner you actually have to use the blue start and the green boosts, or you're going to have a tough time with the first Wizpig race. To do the blue boost, don't accelerate until "get ready" vanishes, right before "go". To do the green boost; let go of the A button just before you hit a zipper, or activate a boost; you will get a more powerful boost that will carry you farther than a normal, purple zipper boost.
I think the sequel was to be Donkey Kong Racing, but we know what happened... I Hate MICROSOFT!

People say the second race is better, but I find that it's MUCH MUCH worse than the first one. Every single unfair part of the race is unpredictable, Wizpig is still too fast, and there's too many hazards to avoid!!!

The wizpigs mouth opens and you race a wizpig that's stuck in hell, if you lose. You stay there for eternity
The throne at 1:15 would be used to teleport to different planets, meet new bosses. Race on new maps
