At least his exhaust is going out a stack or 2 behind the cab. When I was in the Regular Army I drove a 10-ton tractor that had the dual exhaust’s coming out just in front of the quarter fenders. Talk about LOUD!!! And the trucks were geared so low that you couldn’t get going fast enough to get the noise behind you. This I think is how I got my 10% VA disability for my hearing loss.
I can picture myself on a long haul in the middle of a moonlit night with the sound of this massive engine cruising on an interstate probably around 2:00 AM. Quite relaxing.
I can solemnly assure you my friend there was nothing relaxing about this engine. These damn engines were so loud by 2:00 a.m. you would have needed migraine headache medicine. I'm not talking about exhaust noise either. It was just the overall horrible racket that the engine made under normal operation. However because of their high RPM range they made for an excellent Truck Racing Engine. You could also wear a helmet to block some of the noise. LOL
