I'm like what the hell is this thing about? So I started watching this thing they called football. All my friends were this United team's fans. I do now!🤣 And every time I watch my Blues on the big screen and they play this song, it brings tears to my eyes because I know what it means to swear that Blue is the color and football is the game!

@@sawleyram7405 Bollarks. Remember the classic cup matches with Sheffield Wednesday in '84/85. 6,000 Chelsea went up to Hillsborough with two days notice after the first drawn game on a Monday. We were 0-3 down at half time. Non-stop singing throughout and fought back to get a 4-4 draw and another replay. Anybody who knows anything of pre-Sky TV football knows Chelsea had one of the biggest away followings and not just for a big day out at a top division club either.
@@chelseacharger I remember them too! It's all we did at weekends back in the day, going away on boozed-up convoys to the next match. I started watching Derby play at the Baseball Ground the year after we'd won our second title. Like many grounds of the time- it wasn't one for the feint hearted. The fact is (as you've so very well highlighted in your post) that it's no longer like that. I've been to a fair few of the big London grounds over the past 10-15 years and they all have this uncomfortable, corporate atmosphere. I'm not knocking Chelsea or its fans by any means whatsoever, but in this example and in my experience I've found Hillsborough a far more genuine experience as a fan than Stamford. Sorry, that's just my view.
@@sawleyram7405 It's a sad reality but that's how football has gone. Look at Everton and Goodison Park. A similar 'old school' ground to Hillsborough. It's 'problem' is that the facilities are considered lacking for modern demands and it's got comparatively very few corporate boxes so they're looking to move to a new swanky stadium. So this is not an issue that is only for London. Years ago, Roy Keane moaned about the 'prawn sandwich' brigade at Old Trafford. The atmosphere at Man City often gets slated. Leicester have got those bleedin' annoying clap-sticks and other clubs employ drums to help get the support going. My first match was in the 70/71 season just before our decline and Derby County's great team was on the rise. I think we can all agree, it's not like the old days anywhere.
