Being a trucker and a biker, I would have never tried to go past a large load obviously coming upon a junction or roundabout knowing they are going to take most of the road to negotiate. Something called forward planning was needed here, stay safe.

You should have spotted that a mile away, pish poor planning on your behalf.

    Poor obs and anticipation.
You're approaching a roundabout or junction behind a wagon carrying a wide load. The wagon will need to run wide due to it's turning circle.
You are the overtaking vehicle- the onus is on you to make sure that you can overtake safely.

This is an interesting situation to me, with a few points worth mentioning.
It is entirely possible that the driver of the truck may not have been able to see you due to the width and depth of the bucket on that machine. I would suggest that if you are unable to see the driver in his mirror, that extreme caution is required, which leads to another point...the growing use of cameras instead of mirrors on trucks which are meant to improve safety, I refuse to drive trucks not fitted with mirrors.
As a motorcyclist myself, I feel a certain reassurance when I see the driver has spotted me in his mirror, you do not get that with trucks fitted with cameras, the dirver may have seen you, but you do not know that he has, so I am extra cautious passing these trucks.
I can't tell when the truck began to indicate, but if I were carrying a wide load with the blindspots that creates, I'd be making sure I indicate early, 3 or 4 flashes before starting to gently move into center of road.
And being a truck driver, I know that if a wide load is approaching a roundabout (which is my guess here), there is every chance he is thinking about taking a bit more road (which is allowed of course, but must be done safely) and I would just hang back and let things unfold.
I have no explanation for the escort vehicle. They often have 2 way radios, so perhaps the truck driver made his move and did not inform the escort prior to making his move? Or the escort driver was faffing about with his mobile phone and not paying attention, which is entirely possible. Flashing ambers on a vehicle is not a garauntee someone sensible is in charge, often it is quite the opposite...I am actually scared of vehicles that have Highway Maintenance stickers on them. 😆

The Anthony Gormley statues are not in Southport, they are situated on Crosby beach further south.

You're quite correct, and I correct myself in the video in which we visited them.😃

We're you aware of the speed reduction yellow lines? Not a criticism, but I would have waited a while. I over took a hgv on the the m57 and he nearly pushed me into the central reservation with his wind blast. Say hello to Southport for me as I lived there for 20 years until I moved to northern Spain 6 years ago

Quite right. Even after four decades of riding. Thing is, I'd turned off the camera on the motorcycle when it happened. If I'd had footage from my POV in the run-up to that it'd give an entirely different perspective. We live and learn, eh?

The wagon would see you and probably thought he had left you enough road he moved over because there was a minor road on his near side so he has to move over incase some one pulls up to the lines at the junction he did indicate the escort vehicle could not pull over because your camera vehicle was obviously along side it and stopping him pulling over also you were overtaking on yellow caution lines with out caution and finally remember its a commercial vehicle with a load wide enough to justify an Escort vehicle so a good wide and must be given respect something you were not giving him if it was me I would not have highlighted this failing on your part
