I don't blame Hbox for not playing friendlies vs many other top players. If he's figured you out, why tf would he give you the opportunity to do the same stakes free? It feels like people aren't acknowledging the competitive height and status melee has achieved. You don't see boxers or MMA fighters sparring with each other prior to a title fight.

Armada and ZeRo also want to win and play countless hours of friendlies. Aim to be the best player in the world, not the #1 player for that year.
Hbox not playing friendlies is the reason why all these top players are forced to play Fox. Nobody to lab out the Puff match up with Falco/Marth/Sheik/Peach. Instead, the only time these characters actually get to play a top 30 Puff is *if* they meet Hbox in bracket and by then, you're basically guaranteeing yourself a loss. The last time Hbox lost to a non-Fox/Falcon was two years ago at Evo 2015 and Apex 2015. Rest is just as cancerous as shine.
Jacques L The thing is though, IF Hbox never players friendlies vs top players, then he also has no friendly, top level practice and still wins. He can't really lab out the Falco MU, the Marth or Sheik or anything else at top level either. Top players going fox are just doing his work for him because he gets a shit ton of tournament practice vs basically one character.
Say what you want about m2k's commentary but he's one of the few players who has wins over hbox this year.

Hungrybox is the greatest melee player of all time. He is unquestionably better than Armada and Mang0 now. They both use Fox who is the best character in the game and is also Puffs worst matchup. But that doesnt mean anything to hbox cuz he is way more skilled than them and is able to beat them consistently in a losing matchup. Hungrybox has now own 5 Majors in a row that is just insane especially cuz he uses Puff! I dont understand how people still dont respect his skill. He comes into most sets at a disadvantage at the character select screen yet he is able to pull out crazy wins all the time. I think its about time that you all recgonize how good hbox is now. All the times you hbox haters laughed at him when hed lose to mango constantly but now the tables have turned hehehe. Whats up now haters? Hbox has surpassed mango significantly in skill and is going to be ranked #1 this year. Genesis is 2 months away btw and guess whos going to win that huh? HBOX WILL!
