Hip Hop in the UK is about 40 years, first track to enter the charts and show on TV was Rappers Delight 1979. Mainly Electro and early rap so if you look really at it 82/83 thats the whole graffiti, breakin', rappin thing took off. To understand what UK was listening to, look out for the Electro/Streetsounds compilations, that gives an indication musicwise what was happening. Streetsounds celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2022.
All I remember is when Giggs first started making music, you couldn’t go through any part of South London without hearing his tunes blasting, he’s very loved over here I honestly think he has one of the nicest rap voices 🇬🇧❤
